A little different concrete project this week!

We poured two reinforced concrete footings for a new entry gate. Each footing measured 4’ × 4’ × 5’ deep and took nearly 3 cubic yards of concrete, weighing approximately 6,000lbs each.

Both footings were heavily reinforced with rebar cages to provide a solid foundation for the steel gate posts.

Not every concrete job is a driveway or patio—we’re always up for something a little different!

A huge thank you to everyone who trusted Horak Concrete with their projects this year. We truly appreciate the support, referrals, and everyone who has kept our schedule full.

We are now scheduling projects for the 2027 season. If you’re considering a new driveway, patio, sidewalk, garage floor, retaining wall, or other concrete work next year, now is a great time to get on the schedule.

Small street repair job we completed recently.

Before the repair, this entry was basically an obstacle course. After removing the damaged concrete, prepping the base, tying into the existing pavement, and pouring it back, the area is much safer and cleaner.

The best part was how many tenants stopped by to say how happy they were to finally have it fixed. Smaller repairs like this can make a big difference for everyone using the property every day.

Another small shop floor in the books.

We were in and out in a day on this one, completing a clean new concrete floor with a burned, power-troweled finish. A smooth, hard-troweled surface is a great option for shop floors where durability, cleanability, and everyday use matter.

Not every project has to be huge — sometimes a simple shop floor makes a big difference in how usable the space is.

This back patio had settled drastically and was well overdue for a makeover.

We demoed the old concrete, poured a new patio, and brought the yard grade up to match the height of the new concrete. Now the customer has a cleaner, safer, and much more usable backyard space.

This floor needed additional support underneath, so we underpinned the affected areas to help stabilize the slab and prevent further movement.

Patio extension completed for this customer.

The existing patio was a little too small for how they wanted to use the space, so we extended it to create a larger, more functional outdoor area. We matched into the existing concrete, prepped the base, set the forms, and poured a clean extension that gives them more room to relax, grill, and enjoy the backyard.

Sometimes a small addition can completely change how usable an outdoor space feels.

Another driveway replacement wrapped up! 👷‍♂️

Once we got the existing concrete removed, we found some subbase issues that required quite a bit more prep than originally expected. We ended up bringing in approximately 12 tons of clean rock to get everything properly stabilized and ready for the new concrete.

We finished the new driveway with picture-frame edging at the customer’s request.

Even with the additional subbase work and material, we were still able to keep the project on budget and make sure the job was done right.

A good finished product starts with what’s underneath it! 💪

In and out in a day.

Most people don’t realize that after about 24 hours, new concrete can typically handle light foot traffic. For this job, the walk to the front steps had settled, causing the first step to fall outside of code limits.

We removed the old concrete, corrected the grade, and poured a new walkway to bring the step height back where it needed to be — all with minimal inconvenience to the homeowner.

Small repairs like this make a big difference in safety, appearance, and everyday use.

Driveway extension completed for this customer.

The existing driveway didn’t have quite enough room for the way the customer needed to use the space, so we added a new extension to create more parking and better access.

We prepped the area, set the forms, installed the base, and poured a clean new section that ties into the existing driveway.

A driveway extension is a simple way to make a property more functional without replacing the entire driveway.
