Patio extension completed for this customer.

The existing patio was a little too small for how they wanted to use the space, so we extended it to create a larger, more functional outdoor area. We matched into the existing concrete, prepped the base, set the forms, and poured a clean extension that gives them more room to relax, grill, and enjoy the backyard.

Sometimes a small addition can completely change how usable an outdoor space feels.

Another driveway replacement wrapped up! 👷‍♂️

Once we got the existing concrete removed, we found some subbase issues that required quite a bit more prep than originally expected. We ended up bringing in approximately 12 tons of clean rock to get everything properly stabilized and ready for the new concrete.

We finished the new driveway with picture-frame edging at the customer’s request.

Even with the additional subbase work and material, we were still able to keep the project on budget and make sure the job was done right.

In and out in a day.

Most people don’t realize that after about 24 hours, new concrete can typically handle light foot traffic. For this job, the walk to the front steps had settled, causing the first step to fall outside of code limits.

We removed the old concrete, corrected the grade, and poured a new walkway to bring the step height back where it needed to be — all with minimal inconvenience to the homeowner.

Small repairs like this make a big difference in safety, appearance, and everyday use.

Driveway extension completed for this customer.

The existing driveway didn’t have quite enough room for the way the customer needed to use the space, so we added a new extension to create more parking and better access.

We prepped the area, set the forms, installed the base, and poured a clean new section that ties into the existing driveway.

A driveway extension is a simple way to make a property more functional without replacing the entire driveway.

This over-under garage floor was a much more involved project than a typical slab replacement.

From the start, this job required engineered plans to make sure everything was designed and supported properly. Once the plans were in place, we demoed the existing floor, installed the required supports and decking, and prepared everything for the new concrete.

After all the prep work was complete, we poured and finished the new garage floor, giving the customer a strong, usable space built the right way from the structure up.

Projects like this take more than just concrete — they require planning, proper support, and attention to every step of the process.

New garage slab completed for this customer.

For this project, the customer requested a floor drain and specifically wanted a broom finish for better traction. We prepped the base, set the forms, installed the drain, and made sure everything was ready for inspection before the pour.

After inspection was passed, we poured a clean new garage floor with the broom finish the customer wanted.

Drainage, finish, layout, prep, and inspection all matter when building a garage slab that works well long-term.

Sometimes backyard access isn’t simple.

On this patio replacement, there wasn’t an easy way to get equipment in without damaging landscaping and plants, so we wheelbarrowed all of the demoed material out and brought all of the new concrete in by hand.

It took some extra work, but we were able to create a better back patio for this customer while keeping disturbance to the yard and landscaping to a minimum.

Small details matter — especially when working around someone’s home.

Here’s a small service walk we completed earlier this year.

The existing sidewalk had settled and cracked, and the step up to the entry stoop had sunk beyond code limits. Besides looking rough, it was creating a trip hazard and making the entry less safe and convenient to use.

We removed the failed concrete, corrected the grade, prepped the base, and poured a new service walk with a proper transition back to the entry.

Small repairs like this can make a big difference in safety, appearance, and everyday use.

Another retaining wall wrapped up! 💪

This one definitely put our crew to work. Between the steep terrain, tight access, and the wall reaching up to 8 feet tall, there wasn’t much about this project that was easy. It took a lot of planning, a lot of rock, and a lot of block to get it done right.

A few numbers on this wall:

• 106 linear feet of retaining wall
• Up to 8 feet tall
• Around 500 blocks installed
• Over 60 tons of drainage rock
• Over 450 linear feet of geogrid
• Continuous reinforced concrete footing under the wall

A retaining wall is a lot more than just stacked block. The excavation, footing, drainage, geogrid, backfill, and compaction are what make the wall last.

Proud of how this one turned out and thankful for another customer trusting Horak Concrete with their project.
