It’s been a good season for tomatoes, corn, potatoes and beans. Our first significant watermelon harvest behind us, now. Kohlrabi, peas, squash, cabbage, beets, radishes and other good things are on their way.

Joe Pye is waning now but there it is in all of its glory.

Hand picking bugs, using mulch instead of row covers, and not relying on fungicides, pesticides, or herbicides of any kind is quite the undertaking… but we’re taking the slow and steady path, fostering biodiversity and soil health while planting perennials like asparagus, artichoke, blackberries, native flowers, and Arkansas Black apples (from the motherland)

We are grateful for cool September mornings and a general break from the heat.
I’ll be at this Saturday again and I’ve got a lot of beans.

Beans, beans, beans! They are needing picked almost every day of the week, it’s been a true battle of my will. I almost cannot keep up. Find them tomorrow!
My pimento peppers are on the menu with a lovely homemade meatball nestled inside and topped with a stunning tomato sauce that left me wishing I had some of their incredible pizza crust to sop it up with.
