Many of my pieces will highlight water and more specifically, lily pads. Water has always resonated with me. I feel a deep connection to the movement and calming stillness it evokes. I grew up on the Florida coast and spent many hours outside, always exploring. For me, I connect on a much deeper level to what lily pads symbolize..they remind me to be steadfast amidst dark waters..to seek calmness and hope and that out of unassuming settings, beauty can still prevail.
I use thick, impasto strokes to build a rich textural depth on the canvas with expressive and gestural mark-making. Color is the window to my soul though- don’t know if anyone famous has said that but it is a constant in my work.
