Saturday the Barefoot Decks family lost one of the best of us. Chad Graham of Graham Brothers Stone has been working with us for almost 10 years. At 48 years old he was far too young to leave his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Just as it is with many small contracting companies, this time of year can be difficult. Even when weather did not cooperate he made sure his guys got full pay to make the holidays happier. Now his family could use a little help. If you have the ability to help out, this man was truly worth.

Just because it's pretty does not mean it's safe! In today's deck building world almost everyone wants underdeck drainage, composite fascia, big open spans underneath, and PVC wraps, but done wrong all of those things cause massive failure in a very short period of time. Thankfully nobody was on or under this deck when it came down. This time the homeowners called Barefoot Decks. We are building back with critical structure lumber and a Trex RainEscapes system to seal out all water. Even the outer bands are sealed with Fastenmaster Deck Frame Coating before the pretty stuff goes on.

Just in time for the holidays. As a business, we have to close jobs out to make a living but I'm going to miss this customer. Gene and Brenda, thank you for letting us build this project for you. I will be making a Reel with all the pictures soon.

Why put a 30-50 year composite decking and aluminum rails on a 15 year frame? Underdeck systems, PVC wraps, and skirting under your deck all keep your deck frame wet and reduce the lifespan of your frame. Big box store pressure treated only has a lifespan of 12 to 17 years today. At Barefoot Decks we want you to have a pretty deck but we also want it to last that's why we only use critical structure pressure treated, Owens Corning composite lumber, or Timbertech aluminum for our frames.
