Windmill Iris Gardens My name is Charla Leeson. I am owner and currently the sole operator of Windmill Iris Gardens. I will be placing a couple sitting areas as well.

I am a small business in the Piney Woods of East Texas (northeast) I'm really looking forward to meeting new people, making new connections and bringing in new customers! My love of Iris started many years ago as a young adult but my obsession with growing them came only about 10 years ago. I visited my aunt's home here in Texas where she provided me with a number of beautiful plants. She and my u

ncle had a wonderful Iris farm in Hill County, and she was a member of a few of the clubs in Texas. Those particular irises are still near and dear to my heart and will never be for sale. I have recently relocated my farm to the Piney Woods of East Texas in the tiny town of Marietta in Cass County. I am really looking forward to seeing to making new connections and meeting new people. Spring 2022 brought some beautiful blooms and they are loving their new home in Marietta. I hope to be having open house starting in 2023 and I am working hard preparing for that. I am currently in the process of trying to decide how to landscape around the garden area. My husband and I work hard on the weekends to trim away brush and trees to give more space in the area and give it a much better "drive up appeal." There will be no sales for 2022 due to replanting everything in September of 2021. I will plan for sales in 2023 on those that have increased the most. Always keep an eye on my page for updates. I do not have a website at this time so any and all sales have been and will continue to be posted on my page. Being a photographer, I enjoy taking photos of all of my beauties so all of the photos on my page are my photos from my garden and the watermarks on the photos are all my watermarks. Bloom season has been sad this year. So much damage from the late freeze and frost in March. Either weak stalk and weak blooms or deformed blooms. I even had two with 4 falls and double beards.

It may not be iris, but my boy is sure photogenic in the bluebonnets!

REMINDER: Annual Iris Show and potted Iris sale this Saturday, April 11th from 1-4 pm at the Hughes Springs Community Center located at 902 E. First St. in Hughes Springs, TX 75656. Light refreshments will be available while you admire the entries and shop our potted iris sale.
Entries need to be on a table no later than 9 am for judging. There will be clerks to help and entry tags at the door, and you can contact me for any other information that you need. I am also show chair, so I can provide you with the schedule and rules for the entering your beautiful iris into our show.
Potted iris will be $12. I have provided photos of the potted iris that will be available for sale. The photos have the names and quantities underneath each photo. Quantities are limited so be sure and get there early!!
A pamphlet with the Show Schedule, categories and rules, can be found at City Hall or the Hughes Springs Public Library. I have also included a photo of all of the pertinent information below. Be sure to look it over before entering.
Bring a friend, bring a group of friends. We would love to see you there!
If you like to grow iris or are interested in Iris, The Piney Woods Iris Society meets every 3rd Thursday at 1pm Sept-May in the Hughes Springs Public Library and we would absolutely love to have you join us. However, Our April 16th meeting will be held at Windmill Iris Gardens in Marietta, TX. Please contact me for details. Tell everyone you know!!

If you are in or even in surrounding cities and counties close to Cass County, Texas, please come join us on April 11, 2026 for our iris show and plant sale.

Our club also meets on the third Thursday of each month in the library in Hughes Springs at 1pm. We would absolutely love for you to come check us out!
