We saw some scattered rain move through parts of the Atlanta area this weekend.

Not much. But it doesn’t take much.

After a dry stretch, even light rainfall begins to change conditions around the home. Moisture settles into mulch beds, along foundations, and in shaded areas.

That’s often when activity starts to pick back up.

And with more rain expected this week, those conditions aren’t going away.

For mosquitoes, it’s even simpler. Small amounts of standing water in birdbaths, plant trays, and containers can restart breeding quickly.

This is usually how it begins.

If you’ve noticed changes around your home, now is the time to get ahead of it. If you're seeing activity, let's get you on the schedule.

And just like that . . . it starts.

We saw some rain move through parts of the Atlanta area today.

Not much. But it doesn’t take much.

After a dry stretch, even light rainfall can begin to shift conditions around the home. Moisture starts to settle into mulch beds, along foundations, and in shaded areas.

That’s often when activity begins to pick back up.

For mosquitoes, it can be even simpler. Small pockets of water in birdbaths, plant trays, and containers are enough to get things going again.

This isn’t a major shift yet.

But it’s usually how it starts.

If you’ve noticed changes around your home, now is the time to pay attention.

We’re here to help.

Rain is coming. Here's what that means around your home.

After an extended dry stretch across Georgia, we may finally see some rain moving into the Atlanta area.

That is good news in a lot of ways.

But it can also signal a shift in pest activity.

Dry conditions often push pests to search for moisture and shelter closer to the home. When rain returns, activity can pick back up quickly, especially around foundations, mulch beds, crawlspaces, and shaded areas.

For mosquitoes, even small amounts of standing water can restart breeding in places like birdbaths, plant trays, buckets, and clogged gutters.

Changing weather often means changing pest behavior.

Staying ahead of that shift is usually easier than reacting to it later.

Now is a smart time to get ahead of the season. Or as we refer to it in the pest control industry, SEASON!

This hole is about 1/2 inch wide.

That's all it takes.

Carpenter bees only need a small entry point to start a tunnel system inside wood.

Ever wonder what’s inside that hole?

Carpenter bees don’t just drill into wood. They build tunnels inside it.

Each tunnel contains chambers where eggs are laid and the next generation develops.

What starts as one hole can turn into repeated damage over time.

Those perfectly round holes in your deck are not random.

As temperatures rise across Metro Atlanta, carpenter bees begin searching for untreated wood to nest and reproduce.

While they resemble bumblebees, carpenter bees behave very differently. Instead of building hives, they drill perfectly round holes into exposed wood to create nesting tunnels.

Over time, those tunnels can expand and weaken structures like:
• Deck railings
• Pergolas and outdoor structures
• Wooden trim and siding
• Fascia boards and eaves

Many homeowners first notice carpenter bees when they see large bees hovering near wood surfaces.

If you’re seeing these signs around your home, early treatment can help prevent long-term damage.

The team at Dixie Exterminators provides free inspections and targeted carpenter bee control throughout Marietta and Metro Atlanta.

Why Winter is the BEST Time for Termite Inspections 🏠

Meet Jesse Beecham, Dixie's operations manager and termite expert with over 20 years of experience protecting Metro Atlanta homes.

Here's what most people don't know:
Termites don't take winter off. Right now, subterranean termite colonies are active underground, feeding on homes 24/7.

"People think termites are a spring problem," Jesse explains. "They wait until they see swarmers flying around in March or April. But by then, the colony has been eating your home for months, maybe years. The swarmers are just reproduction. The real damage happens silently, year-round."

Why This Matters:
💰 Termites cause $5 billion in property damage annually
🏚️ They compromise your home's structural integrity
📋 Damage often isn't covered by homeowner's insurance
🕐 By the time you see damage, it's extensive

What We Offer:
🆓 Free Inspections - No cost, no obligation
🛡️ Sentricon Bait System - Industry-leading protection
📄 $1 Million Warranty - Zero dollar deductible
👨‍🔬 Expert Service - Licensed, certified technicians

Jesse's Bottom Line:
"I've seen what termites can do to a home. Foundation damage, compromised support beams, floors that need replacing. I've seen repair bills over $50,000. A free inspection now can save you tens of thousands later."

Don't wait until you see swarmers. By then, they've already found your home.
