Donofro Architects Donates Accessible Ramp to Historic Davis West House
MARIANNA, Fla. — Donofro Architects, a multigenerational architectural firm based in Marianna since 1963, recently completed a new, code-compliant entrance ramp for the Historic Davis West House. Paul Donofro Jr., owner of Donofro Architects and a member of the Chipola Historical Trust, identified the need to replace the building’s old entrance stairs, which did not meet code. He offered to design, permit, and construct the ramp at no cost to the organization.
Located at the corner of Putnam and Madison streets in one of Marianna’s historic districts, the Historic Davis West House serves as a meeting place for the Chipola Historical Trust and houses displays of historic artifacts and documents.
Donofro Architects designed the ramp to improve access to the historic building while remaining aesthetically and materially compatible with its original architecture. The firm developed the design, prepared construction plans, secured a City of Marianna Development Order and Building Permit, and donated the materials and labor required to build the ramp for members and the general public.
Chipola Historical Trust President Robert Daffin and Treasurer and Secretary Rhonda D***s thanked Donofro Architects for donating its time and materials. They also complimented the ramp’s appearance and functionality.
