It’s important you don’t go over any old siding because it can trap moisture which can lead to hidden wood rot and mold, conceal termite damage, and create bulky, uneven surfaces. Went on a roof inspection yesterday and came across a roof with more than 2 layers.In New Jersey, that’s a huge issue. Extra weight from multiple layers can stress the structure , especially with snow loads in the winter. It also traps heat and moisture, hides damaged wood underneath, and shortens the life of the roof.
Sometimes the cheaper shortcut ends up becoming the most expensive mistake. Do it right the first time.
