Ice storms could play a major role in the 2025-2026 winter season…

Our winter forecast shows a high to very high probability of ice storm activity from the Southern Plains through the Midwest and into the Ohio Valley. This includes parts of Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, where the clash of cold air and Gulf moisture may frequently align.

If you're in the purple or blue zones, prepare for an above-average risk of significant icing events this winter, including dangerous travel, tree damage, and power outages.
