Initial Consultation
The landscape design begins with an initial consultation with Kelly, where you will discuss your needs, preferences, and questions. If you already have a vision or idea, Kelly can help make it a reality. Or, if you are like most clients and don't know the first place to start, Kelly will walk you through the basics of design. Kelly can show you photos of completed projects and
plant options, or even replicate a design from a photo or location you specify. Finally, some clients just ask Kelly to "improve my space" and offer little direct input for the design. Regardless of which client you are, Kelly will put her full creativity into designing your project to be functional, unique, and enjoyable!
2. Site Evaluation
Before Kelly begins your design, she will schedule a site evaluation at the project location. Kelly will photograph the existing site, take measurements of the home and entire property, and note the sun exposure, drainage, and other terrain properties.
3. Conceptual Design
Based on your project goals and the site evaluation, Kelly will create a conceptual plan that incorporates her design ideas and recommendations for the property. The conceptual design will be finalized after any requested modifications are completed and you approve the final draft.
4. Landscape Design Plan
Kelly will create a complete installation-ready design plan with supporting construction documentation and planting schedules. At this point, you can take the plan in-hand and complete the installation on your own or hire a landscape contractor to perform the installation. You can also choose to retain Kelly through the installation phase and allow her to solicit construction bids, secure requisite permits, and coordinate the plan installation with the landscape contractor.
5. Construction Support
At your request, Kelly can provide material estimates for the design installation and contact vendors and suppliers to arrange for order and pick-up/delivery of construction materials. This is especially helpful when designs incorporate vendor exclusive or custom-built items, and significantly reduces the landscape contractor's responsibilities and cost. Additionally, Kelly can schedule on-site visits during construction to monitor installation quality and ensure accurate design implementation.
6. Installation Follow-Up
Kelly's service doesn't just stop when the project is completed; if you need help with a plant problem or advice about adding plants to your installation, feel free to contact Kelly anytime. She may also request the opportunity to visit a project site after installation. As a design plan will not reach peak beauty until plants have had several years to mature, Kelly may even schedule a visit years after installation to examine plan maturation.
