In the spring and summer, we handle spring clean-ups, get the stones out of the grass, aerate, de- thatch, gather the sticks and leaves that came down throughout the winter, plant grass and sod, clean out the beds, take old plants and bushes out and install new, prune bushes and trees, plant trees, apply fresh mulch, lawn mowing, edging, trimming and storm clean-ups. We also deliver/ apply mulch, soil and stone. In the fall we handle fall clean-ups, leaf removal, gutter cleaning, wrap shrubs and get everything ready for winter. We strongly believe in locals supporting locals, therefore we support local programs, youth sports and events, shop local and hire local.

The Orionid Meteor Shower peaks in just one week! 💫

The Orionids are named after one of the most recognizable constellations in the sky, Orion, from which these meteors appear to radiate. Often featuring some of the brightest and fastest streaking stars, the Orionids appear in October and peak this year in the hours before dawn on October 22.

However, this year, the Orionids may be difficult to view. The waxing gibbous Moon will obscure all but the brightest meteors, but still worth wishing on a shooting star anyway!

🌕 An old October weather saying goes: “Full Moon in October without frost, no frost till the full Moon in November.”

Wouldn’t that be a gift for the garden? It’s folklore, though, so keep an eye on your local forecast before leaving tender plants outdoors.

Have you had your first frost yet? Tell us where you’re watching the October skies. 🍂

💔 They mate for life. And their story is more beautiful than most people realize. 🕊️

Mourning doves often form long-term pair bonds, sharing the work of building a nest, incubating eggs, and feeding their young.

🌿 Their nests are little more than loose twigs.
🐣 Both parents feed their babies a remarkable substance called crop milk.
🕊️ Their soft cooing is part of their everyday communication.

Their calls may sound sad to us, but they serve natural purposes, including attracting mates and defending territory. We can't know from a call alone what a bird is feeling.

Still, there's something special about seeing two doves return to the same branch, season after season.

Sometimes, nature reminds us that the quietest bonds can be the most enduring. ❤️

Have you ever seen a pair of mourning doves visiting your yard together? Tell us below. 👇

How do you know when a pumpkin is ripe and ready for harvest? 🎃 There are a few things to look for in the pumpkin patch, like a hard stem and firm skin, but some seasoned pumpkin-pickers swear by the ol' "thump test" to determine if the inside is hollow.

And If you want your pumpkin to last months instead of weeks, cure it by keeping the pumpkins in a dry, warm place such as a sunroom, your doorstep, a dry part of your garden, or a sunny windowsill for at least 2 weeks. Then, carefully turn the fruits upside down and leave them for another 2 weeks.

💙 BLUE JAYS: WHAT PEOPLE GET WRONG ABOUT THESE BEAUTIFUL BIRDS

That bright blue bird with the loud call might be one of your backyard's most misunderstood visitors.

🐦 MYTH: Blue Jays are mostly nest robbers.
🌰 FACT: Their diet consists mainly of nuts, seeds, fruit, and insects. They sometimes eat eggs or nestlings, but this is not the main part of their diet.

💙 MYTH: Their feathers contain blue pigment.
✨ FACT: Their blue appearance comes from the way specialized feather structures scatter light.

🌳 And here's the amazing part: Blue Jays carry acorns away and bury them for later. Some forgotten acorns grow into oak trees!

They aren't just beautiful backyard visitors. They're also helping shape the forests of tomorrow.

Nature is often more fascinating than the myths we hear about it. 🍂

Which Blue Jay fact surprised you the most? Tell us below! 👇
