**DANGER DANGER**
The pictures below should be taken very seriously. The homeowner was very lucky they did not have an electrical fire and lose everything.
We see this all the time. What causes this is an installation technique called backstabbing. Instead of properly and professionally installing receptacles and switches some electricians will cut corners to save time and backstab the devices.
The article below goes into greater detail. Please note that the article mentions this WAS a common technique in the 70's and 80's. Backstabbing IS still a common technique some electricians will use to save time on installation. PLEASE DO NOT THINK SINCE YOU HAVE A NEWER HOME YOU ARE SAFE.
The article also gives instruction on how to inspect your devices for backstabbing. If you are not comfortable doing this please call us and we will inspect for free. While installing receptacles and switches is thought of as an easy homeowner task, improper installation could be catastrophic.
To wrap this up we want people to be educated and aware of the potential danger that cannot be detected until it is to late. Give us a call and we will take care of you. This is scary stuff, but you can relax... we're professionals.
