Looking to hire a carpenter. I own and run a small construction company doing high end home building. Attitude, manners and willingness to learn is more important than experience. Our small and committed crew of true craftsmen have been working together for many years, and would be great at teaching someone who is ambitious and willing to learn the trade. Most of the work we do is in the Manchester, Dorset, Londonderry and surrounding towns. Check out the Vermont Country Builders website www.vermontcountrybuilders.com to see some of the work we do. Pay and benefits are dependent on experience. Potential benefits include paid days off, health insurance, IRA match. Please email me at [email protected] with pertinent information about yourself if you are interested, and please be patient with our response time.

Thank you

Can you imagine having this fireplace in your kitchen? What an inspiring place to spend a little time. Brown Masonry found reclaimed granite posts which they placed from ceiling to floor and infilled between with more locally sourced granite and fieldstone off the property. Even the firebox is stone!! One of the larger beams we had from a barn dismatled stretches the entire way across this part of the kitchen landing on 2 - 10"x12" hand hewn posts. And then there is the view!

Here is a picture of the great room we built. The raised hearth is one piece of reclaimed granite. Most of the antique hewn beams came from old barns my crew and I dissasembled. This room was like building a ship in a bottle. The house was conventionally built and we installed the antique timber frame after. A lot of thought and corridination went into making this happen. We had to think backwards and worked from the top down installing one rafter, then the king post, then the other rafter, winch the cross tie up and into place then add posts and braces. We mortised all joints we could to make it as authentic as possible. We wanted to notch in the purlins so we would make one full bent (rafters, cross tie, braces and posts) then put ceiling boards on to where the purlins would end, install purlins then the next set of rafters would have notches and slide over the ends of the purlins. Long story short, we came up with a gameplan and it worked extremely well. The fireplace by Brown Masonry is a work of art

Here is a project I am extremely proud to have been in charge of. A special thankyou to for a beautiful design and to all of the amazing subcontractors and especially to my main crew Buck Lafogg, Joe Kreig and Nathan Heberts who prove over and over that true craftsmanship is still alive. On projects like this you spend a tremendous amount of time working with the homeowner and through that process we have become close friends . I would also like to thank for such amazing photos. Here is a list of contractors who should all be very proud of the job they did here. Tyler Electric, David Chaves Excavation, John Maynard, Versatile drywall

Here is a close up of the timber frame sugar house. There is a loft on the back third and the rest is cathedral showing off the custom built post and beam steam vent. All overhead doors on both the sugarhouse and barn were custom sheathed using the same material as the buildings.

What a fun project this was. We originally built the bigger timber frame barn and the homeowner loved it so much we built a timber frame sugarhouse behind it. Locally sourced hemlock was used for the frame and my guys used the mortiser and chissels to carve out the frame.
