❄️ Winter Storm Notice | Heating Support Available ❄️
With a winter storm potentially impacting the DMV area this weekend — including snow, ice, and dangerously cold temperatures — KW Smith & Son will be available for heating-related service calls.
⚠️ Please note: Response times may be delayed if road or weather conditions become unsafe. Technician and customer safety is our top priority.
Because ice affects our area very differently than snow, a little preparation now can make a big difference:
🕒 Before the storm
• Charge phones, power banks & flashlights
• Fill gas tanks & pick up essentials early
• Choose one “warm room” if power goes out
• Locate your breaker panel & water shut-off
🚰 Protect your pipes
• Drip faucets on exterior walls
• Open cabinets under sinks
• Disconnect hoses & cover outdoor spigots
🔥 Heat & home safety
• Have extra blankets and warm layers ready
• Test smoke & carbon monoxide detectors
• Never use grills or generators indoors
🚗 Travel & power tips
• Avoid driving once freezing rain begins
• Bridges freeze first
• Keep fridge doors closed during outages
❗ Important reminder:
¼” of ice can cause outages — ½” can mean days without power.
