Same garden. Just a few months later.

We planted this garden in spring, and I’m really happy with how it is developing in its first season.

The mix of evergreen structure, grasses and perennials is already starting to fill in, and I love how the purple, fresh greens and golden foliage stand out against the dark house.

It still has a lot of growing to do, and that’s the best part. 🌿

Sometimes a garden doesn’t need to start over. It just needs better structure.

We worked on this front garden this spring, keeping some of the existing plants, reorganizing the space and adding perennials for color, texture and movement.

Just a few months later, I’m really happy with how well everything has grown and how much the garden has already changed.

And this is only the beginning. As the plants mature and fill in, the garden will continue to evolve and get better every year. 🌿

This is the part of my job I love: taking an empty or tired space and imagining what it can become.

For this front garden, the clients were asking for color, but not just flowers. They wanted structure, different textures, and plants that will make the garden interesting through the seasons, so that’s what I focused on in the design.

Some existing plants will stay, others will be moved and reused, and new plants will bring everything together.

The plan is ready. Next step: planting! 🌿

Three years later… and still growing beautifully.

A few days ago, my client sent me some pictures saying: “It looks stunning!”

I couldn’t resist stopping by to see the garden in person, and, of course, taking a few more photos.

When I designed this garden, beauty wasn’t the only goal. This area had significant drainage issues, so every plant was carefully selected to tolerate periodically wet soils and help manage excess water naturally.

Three years later, the garden is thriving, full of color, supporting pollinators, providing privacy, and showing that the right plants can solve challenges while creating a landscape you’ll enjoy for years to come.

Receiving messages like this is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

Great Gardens begin with thoughtful plant choices.

Native plants are the foundation of my designs because they provide the greatest ecological value. But every project is unique, and every plant should have a purpose.

Creating beautiful, resilient gardens is about making informed decisions, not just following rules.
