This North Coventry basement is a great example of what we love to do at 8:28 Construction Group.

We don’t just show up to complete a list of tasks. We work with our customers to understand what they want from their space, build a plan around it, and manage the project from the early stages through the finishing details.

Social media usually shows the highlight reel.

The perfectly painted walls.
The finished trim.
The clean floors.
The final walkthrough.

What you don’t often see is everything that happens behind the scenes to make sure a project is worthy of those final photos.

This basement is one we’re currently wrapping up, and instead of waiting until every last detail was complete, I wanted to show you part of the process.

Every project teaches us something.

Sometimes it’s about a new product or installation method. Other times it’s about improving communication or strengthening our quality control process. As a business owner, I believe every project should leave us better than the one before it.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that homeowners aren’t expecting perfection. They’re expecting honesty, accountability, and a contractor who genuinely cares about the finished product.

That’s the standard we strive for every single day.

The easiest thing to do would be to only post the polished final product.

I’d rather show you what happens before that.

Because quality isn’t determined by what goes right.

It’s determined by what you’re willing to correct before you ever call a project complete.

The details at the end of a project are what separate a contractor from a craftsman.

The flooring and baseboards are officially installed, and they look exactly the way they should. Clean, straight, and ready for the final stretch. Now our focus shifts to the little things. Final coat of paint, finish work, touch ups, and the details that bring the entire project together.

But before any of that happens, we protect what we’ve already accomplished.

Sure, floor protection costs extra. It takes more time to install, tape off, and work around. But replacing or repairing damaged flooring costs a whole lot more. More importantly, protecting a client’s investment is simply the right thing to do.

I’ve walked onto plenty of job sites where finished floors are left completely exposed while multiple trades continue working. Tools get dragged across them. Paint gets spilled. Ladders leave dents. Scratches become “acceptable.”

To us, that’s never acceptable.

Professionalism isn’t just about how the finished project looks on the final day. It’s about how you care for every part of the project throughout the entire process. If you’re willing to protect the things no one may ever notice, chances are you’re paying attention to everything else too.

It’s the little details that build trust, and those details are never little to us. 👊

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that quality work leaves clues.

Take a look at this. Before a single light is cut in, the layout is being established with lasers to ensure every fixture is perfectly aligned and evenly spaced.

Could you install recessed lighting without using lasers? Sure.

But when a contractor takes the time to lay everything out with this level of precision, it speaks volumes about the pride they take in their work.

The best part is that this attention to detail didn’t start today. It started during the rough electrical phase with clean, organized wiring and thoughtful planning. When every phase is done with care, the finish work becomes that much cleaner and more professional.

Huge shoutout to Select Power and Lighting for bringing that same level of craftsmanship from rough-in all the way through the final electrical finish. It’s always a pleasure working alongside trades that take as much pride in their work as we do.

At the end of the day, great projects aren’t built by one person. They’re built by a team of professionals who refuse to cut corners and understand that the little details are what separate a good job from a great one. 💡🏠

We’re officially on the home stretch! 🏠💪🏼

The electrical finish work is complete. The first coat of paint has been applied, touch-ups are done, and today is one of my favorite days of the entire project…

Flooring day.

Today we’re installing the luxury vinyl plank flooring, and by the end of the day, the baseboards will be installed as well.

This is the point where all of the planning, framing, inspections, drywall, tape and spackle, sanding, and paint begin to pay off. What was once an unfinished basement is now starting to feel like a true extension of our customer’s home.

Every phase has built upon the last, and now we’re watching the vision come together right before our eyes.

There’s still a few finishing touches ahead of us, but we’re closing in on the finish line, and I can’t wait to show you the final reveal.
