Building Construction Cost Forecasting Tools

AI that earns your trust - NO, slow, methodical simple trial and error, building small, watching small steps - seeing correct data and watching AI learn the contractor methods then I trust it!

Here's the thing about AI-generated estimates: they're only as good as the data behind them. Because your pricing is something you've verified yourself, the AI feature in Fast Estimating Quotes isn't a black box — it's built on numbers you already trust. This trust will be established while you start with some of the manual simple footprints in our manual system so you follow the methods.
Where it really shines: complex, high-grade custom homes with layouts that would normally take hours to break down by hand. Scan your blueprint plan sheets, and it pulls square footage, bed/bath counts, and line items automatically. Prefer full control? The manual Pro Takeoff path lets you enter every dimension yourself.

How the pricing actually works with FEQ estimating?
We get asked this a lot: is the pricing automated? No — and that's on purpose. Fast Estimating Quotes comes preloaded with real starting prices from Home Depot and Lowe's, and a built-in update tool walks you through refreshing them from your own local store whenever you want. You can also add any other store you actually buy from.
Why not automate the process of gathering dollar amounts? Most major retailers don't allow automated price-scraping. So instead of guessing or scraping, you will review pricing you've personally added — numbers you can actually trust.
With my built in system the computer helps maintain the data quickly. The stores are throwing around so much pricing data you can even get confused as to the standard prices! As a builder you need to quote the standard price and during construction pocket the value deals for your profit!

How can I generate fast and accurate construction quotes using software?

Speed and accuracy usually trade off against each other — templates are fast but generic, while fully custom estimates are accurate but slow to build. Software that uses pre-built, customizable assemblies (grouped sets of materials and labor for common tasks) tends to hit both goals: you're not starting from a blank page, but you're also not stuck with a one-size-fits-all number.

Hey,

My company has been developing a construction estimating software for a while now. Well, I finally got it to a spot where it works, and I'd love for a few people I trust to break it before strangers do. It is free to explore and experiment with. It is registered with Microsoft and has been reviewed by their office.

It's called FEQ — Fast Estimating Quotes. A windows only application. You install it, plug in some house info, and it spits out a full itemized estimate in Excel. I just want to know what you think and what trips you up.
The app is building now in process.
Here's the download:
https://github.com/jrmccoy69/feq/releases/

or https://www.fastestimatingquotes.org/

One thing: Windows may pop a blue "SmartScreen" warning the first time — that just means it's new software, not that anything's wrong. Hit "More info," then "Run anyway."

Take your time, no hurry. Even little notes help a bunch.

Appreciate you,
Rocky
