Meet Riley!

He's the latest to join our robotics technician team. Technicians are the backbone of what we do here, on the front line of building, delivering, and maintaining our automated solutions throughout their lifetime.

"My experience at Aerobotix has been great. I've really enjoyed learning more about the robotics industry and getting hands-on experience working with the technology and the team here. I'm looking forward to learning more about how robotics works and traveling to different parts of the country to install and service our systems."

When he's not in the shop, you'll find Riley on the gun or golf range, winding down with video games, or working on his truck. Welcome to the team, Riley!

Meet Nicholas (left).

He's the latest mechanical engineer to join Aerobotix this month. A self-described "aircraft nerd," Nicholas has dreamed of working in aircraft manufacturing. Lately, his time is spent working with one of ABX's original founders, David (right). When asked about his experience so far, this is what he said:

"It has been a lot of assembly and hands-on training that helps me to better understand the components and systems that I design within software. I have had an excellent experience so far, and it has me very hopeful for my future with this company."

We welcome Nicholas, his wife, and dog to the Rocket City!

A bittersweet moment for one of our controls engineers, Alex, who is starting a new chapter in the automotive industry up north.

We celebrated his time at Aerobotix by sharing stories over some barbecue. Our company president, Keith, shared the following, "Alex has contributed greatly to our success in the last few years and he will be missed."

We wish him nothing but sucess on his new journey!

A short recap of last week's Defense Manufacturing Conference (DMC) in Orlando, Florida.

As always, it's a pleasure to have our industry partner, Manufacturing Automation Systems, join us as we continue to introduce and expand the boundaries of intelligent automation within the defense industrial base.

Until next time!

Aerobotix has reached another milestone on a legacy missile program upgrade.

The second system has completed its Factory Acceptance Test at our facility and is currently being disassembled by our robotic technicians for shipment. Upon delivery and installation, our team will conduct an Integrated Acceptance Test, followed by start-up support and operator training.

Unlike the first system, which required a complete overhaul, including a new robot arm, the second system was installed later in the program, making replacement unnecessary. To accommodate the new CCV plate, lines, and spray gun, our technicians built a custom wooden mockup to securely hold each component in place.

Sometimes, our customers don't need new robots. They need the right solution, and we take the time to understand each program's unique requirements to deliver exactly that.

Our recent F-35 SBIR award isn't the first time Aerobotix has tackled this challenge for the Air Force.

In 2015, we were awarded an Air Force SBIR contract to automate the inlet coating process on the F-22 Raptor fleet. Working alongside the Air Force Research Laboratory, our team developed and installed robotic coating systems capable of meeting the aircraft's exacting tolerances, overcoming the complex geometry and tight space constraints that made manual spraying inconsistent and unreliable.

The results speak for themselves:

· First aircraft refurbished in 2016. More than 40 recoated since.
· Six systems currently in operation, two per booth.
· Labor hours reduced from 1,600 to 300.
· The automated system can apply more coating before the material's pot life expires, significantly reducing waste.
· Estimated savings of $220,000 per aircraft.

This track record of proven performance on the F-22 is what informs our approach to the F-35 and our confidence in what's possible.

🚨PRESS RELEASE 🚨

Today, we have been awarded a $1.2 million U.S. Air Force SBIR contract to develop a Robotic Scuff Sanding (RASS) System for the F-35 Lightning II fleet at Hill Air Force Base.

The system will automate a critical surface preparation process, cutting sanding time in half, improving consistency, and helping keep the F-35 fleet mission-ready amid growing skilled labor shortages.

Sponsored by AFWERX, this Direct to Phase II award moves us straight into hardware development and testing in collaboration with Air Force personnel.
