One of the smartest ways to extend the life of a timber bridge is to protect it before deterioration takes over. Our in-place treatment process combines candidate bridge evaluation, detailed inspection, and internal and external preservative application to help combat fungal decay and insect damage.

Done on the right cycle, this work helps preserve critical assets for the long haul.

Capital Railroad Services is built on decades of railroad bridge experience. We began in 1934 and established a railroad division in 1954. Today, we continue that legacy by serving Class I railroads, regionals, short lines, and industrial customers across North America.

We are proud of where we came from and even more focused on where we are going.

When a bridge is damaged, the first good decision is a disciplined assessment.

The immediate priorities are protecting people and operations, understanding what changed, documenting the condition, and determining what temporary or permanent action is appropriate.

Speed matters, but uncontrolled speed creates a second problem.

Emergency response is strongest when engineering, operations, equipment, materials, and communication move together.

Experience changes what you notice.

Timber decay, steel fatigue, concrete deterioration, bearing problems, scour and access limitations do not present themselves the same way on every bridge. A strong inspector understands the material, the environment and how one condition may affect the rest of the structure. That judgment gives owners more than data—it gives them direction.

Recognize an inspector or engineer whose careful work prevented a bigger problem.

On rail bridge work, “close enough” is not good enough.

Every cut, measurement and equipment move has to be deliberate. Our crews combine field experience, careful planning and the right equipment to keep complex bridge projects moving safely from the first step through final completion.

Precision is not an extra. It is part of the job.
