This small, side yard Addition to an Evanston Victorian home was a tight squeeze! But what a difference 7 feet can make on the inside. This former Dining Room has been transformed into a large, spacious Kitchen at the center of the home, making way for a Mudroom, Pantry and light-filled Staircase along the rear.

This Evanston Arts + Crafts house had already been given a large Addition with ample ceiling height, about 20 years ago. But the Kitchen remained tucked away in a dark corner with low ceilings. We shifted the Kitchen out into this lovely, bright space, showcasing the light countertops and cabinetry. The old Kitchen got replaced by a moody Butler's Pantry using dark, contrasting stone countertops. Perfect spot for mixing cocktails!

The Owners of this brick Dutch Colonial farmhouse needed a larger Kitchen for their growing family. A small Addition off the side of the house allowed the Kitchen to rotate, gaining more daylight and room for an island. The Addition compliments the vintage charm of the original home, inside and out!

Think outside the galley Kitchen! This homeowner came to Abode wondering how to solve their narrow Kitchen woes and lack of Mudroom. Our suggestion? Relocate the Kitchen to the heart of the home, by taking over an underused formal Dining Room. And the rest fell into place!

This Master Bathroom in Evanston is elegant! Modern, yet traditional at the same time. The rich, timeless materials are quieted down by the understated details and clean lines. The tub is free-standing, but in a modern shape. The natural stone flooring is embedded in the “hidden” linear drain. Marble, zellige tile, and custom vanity.
