It's October 15th, and that means it's officially oak season! The City of Madison oak moratorium runs from April 1 to October 15, preventing any work on any oak trees in the city in order to combat oak wilt and other disease spread. Happy World Teachers' Day! You may not know this, but teaching is taken very seriously at Tree House. For over 20 years, founder Joe House has been teaching tree-climbing skills to students at Madison Area Technical College. Over the years, many other Tree House employees have helped lend their knowledge, and today, our crew features many graduates of that program!

Additionally, Tree House Arbor has annually taught tree felling and chainsaw safety to forestry students at the University of Wisconsin. Teaching is a valuable part of who we are, and we are proud to have a hand in sharing our skills, knowledge, and experience with the next generations of arborists and foresters!

Science is in our name! One of the tools we employ is a sonic tree tap, which works by sending sound waves across the diameter of the trunk. By analyzing the speed at which the wave travels through the wood, we can then determine the integrity of the tree, allowing us to "see" any hollows, rot, or decay present.

We make sure we have all the facts possible before recommending action, and take pride in knowing all of our tree care decisions are rooted in science!
