This porch had seen years of wear, and parts of it were no longer holding up the way they should. With summer around the corner, the goal was to restore the space carefully while preserving the character that belonged to the home.

Through detailed repairs and refinishing, the porch was brought back to a condition that feels sturdy, welcoming, and ready to be enjoyed again.

Now, it’s once again a space meant for slow mornings, summer evenings, and everyday life outdoors ☀️🪵

The remodel improved flow between spaces, creating a more natural connection for gathering, cooking, and everyday living. Rather than changing the feel of the home, the goal was to build upon what was already there.

This week our team spent time together refreshing and refining our understanding of one of the building systems we regularly use in the field.

At Housewrights, we use Henry Blueskin VP100 as part of our building envelope system before siding is installed. Proper application matters, and continued training helps ensure the work is carried out carefully and consistently across projects.

Better air sealing contributes to a home that performs well over time, improving comfort, efficiency, and long-term durability.

From design and project management to carpentry and leadership, the training brought different parts of our team together around a shared understanding of the work and the standards we build to. Time spent learning together like this strengthens both the work itself and the team behind it. 🔨🪵

This kitchen wasn’t working for how it was used. Awkward cabinetry, a pull-out table, and a dated layout limited how the space functioned day to day.

The remodel reworked the layout to open the space, creating a kitchen that feels brighter, more usable, and easier to move through.

Now it’s a space designed for everyday living. No more working around the room, just a kitchen that works with it. 🍽️🏡

Added space. Preserved character. (swipe to see where it started)

This home needed more room to live in, but not at the expense of what made it feel right. The goal was to expand thoughtfully by building up with a second story and extending out with a sunroom that connects naturally to the rest of the home.

The addition expands the home’s footprint while staying consistent with the original structure. The result is space that feels natural to the home, not separate from it.

The shower, vanity, and tub are each given their own place, allowing the room to function clearly while still feeling connected. Natural light and views were carried through, bringing a quiet, steady feel to the space.
