This Madison, WI homeowner collected photographs and stones from Lake Michigan’s shores over the years. When it came time to reimagine her kitchen and bathroom, she wanted to build some of the details of the remodel around that feeling of being on the lake.

Working closely with our design team, she crafted a vision where every material choice pointed back to that natural beauty found at the lake.

Before this remodel, our clients dreamed of having an outdoor living space. A place for relaxing, eating and entertaining.

They had a flat garage roof that had potential, but they needed a team to navigate construction and to help them bring their vision to life.

Now, that forgotten rooftop has become one of the most-loved parts of their home - a cozy screened-in porch for relaxing, a sunny side deck for fresh air, and a covered grilling patio below.

Because the home sits in a historic district, we guided the clients through every approval and detail.
From preparing variance applications to coordinating with the city landmarks committee, we secured the approvals needed to build their porch addition.

We then reinforced the existing garage roof with custom framing and structural upgrades, ensuring safety and longevity without compromising design.

Today marks the final show for Chad Speight with Larry Meiller as the host. Larry has been broadcasting for 59 years, and he will be retiring next month. Today is also Larry Meiller’s 82nd birthday! These homeowners had a cramped, aging garage in Madison’s Regent neighborhood. One that was just a stall wide and barely deep enough for a car.

The structure was beginning to rot, and the slope of the yard kept pushing water right into it.

On top of that, a tight shared driveway left no room to turn around. Backing out into a busy, walkable neighborhood, with trees blocking their line of sight was an everyday stress point.

They needed more space, better storage, and a safer way to get in and out every day.

Now they have a spacious two-car garage with plenty of space, plus dedicated space for their garden tools, snow blower, and lawn mower.

Inside, we added a full workbench with large windows above it, filling the space with natural light for year-round projects.

Outside, the new concrete driveway includes a simple, functional turnaround spot so they can pull forward out of their driveway with ease. From early development to final construction, our team guided every detail:

🏡 Removing the old garage and concrete
🏡 Designing the interior layout to fit the homeowners’ needs
🏡 Selecting siding and finishes, keeping neighborhood aesthetics and future home projects in mind
🏡 Integrating a retaining wall to solve the old drainage issues
🏡 Creating a driveway layout and turnaround spot that blend naturally into the yard while allowing proper water drainage

The homeowners now have enough room for their cars and tools, and have a safe way to turn around in their driveway - making everyday life a whole lot easier.
