BTBB Architects is a full-service A/E firm specializing in custom architectural planning. BTBB has been providing architectural services since 1975.

BTBB has been providing architectural services in the Macon and Middle Georgia area since 1975. The firm name Brittain Thompson Bray Brown inc. was established in 1993 and has since been changed to BTBB inc. BTBB offices are located in a historic building in downtown Macon, Georgia. The building was renovated by BTBB and was certified by the State Preservation Office and the National Park Service. Bob Brown and Will Stanford are the firm principals and officers of the Corporation. Bob is a registered Architect and Landscape Architect. Will is a registered Architect and LEED Green Associate. In addition to the firm principals, the BTBB staff includes architectural CAD technicians and administrative staff members. BTBB’s experience and expertise includes a broad range of building types including churches, courthouses and municipal buildings, libraries, housing, commercial offices, and educational facilities. In addition, BTBB has significant experience with restoration, renovation, and adaptive reuse of historic buildings.

From auto repair shop to Middle Georgia's first Alternative Dispute Resolution Center, the Adams ADR building has quite a story to tell.
Originally built around 1924 for the Williams Manufacturing Company, this five-bay garage was thoughtfully rehabilitated by BTBB in 2017, preserving its character-defining features while transforming it into modern office, conference, and mediation spaces. An addition extended the footprint to accommodate additional workspace and a new employee entrance. The project was certified for Historic Tax Credits by the National Park Service.
The work earned two prestigious recognitions: the Historic Macon Foundation's Excellence in Preservation Award and The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation's Excellence in Rehabilitation Award.

476 units. Three sites. One transformative undertaking for the Macon Housing Authority.
BTBB's comprehensive renovation of the Davis, Mounts, and Murphey communities brought new life to three mid-20th century neighborhoods. The units feature refreshed interiors with new kitchens, bathrooms, and updated floors, walls, and ceilings, as well as revitalized exteriors with a dignified color palette inspired by Macon's historic neighborhoods. The renewed porches were designed with community in mind, inviting residents to gather and connect.
The project was recognized with the Historic Macon Foundation's Katherine Carmichael Oliver Stewardship Award, a fitting honor for work done with such care.

The Grand Opera House has had an ever-increasing demand for programming. BTBB was able to create a three-phase plan to meet these demands. Our plan was to renovate seating, flooring, and backstage infrastructure, relocate the administrative offices, and gut the lobby, restrooms, Encore Room, and Reception Room.

Completed in 2024, Central City Apartments brings 82 units of workforce housing to one of Macon's most exciting emerging neighborhoods, just steps from Carolyn Creighton Park. The three-building complex pays homage to old Macon with brick street-facing facades along Lower Walnut, Lower Mulberry, and Seventh Streets, while warmer materials on the interior-facing sides give the development a welcoming, residential feel. Perhaps most notably, the project includes a first-of-its-kind Respite Center for homeless individuals—the first such center in the United States built in conjunction with a housing project. When it came time to transform Felton Homes, the guiding principles were simple: preserve, conserve, and educate. Rather than demolish this early 1940s public housing community, BTBB led a thoughtful rehabilitation that retained the basic structural elements, minimized waste, and introduced green, energy-efficient systems throughout. New siding, windows, and generous porches gave the development a true neighborhood feel, while residents and staff were educated on sustainable living and building maintenance from day one. The result is a healthier, safer, and more sustainable community for the next generation of Felton Homes residents. Macon's first public housing development for African American families, Tindall Heights had a proud history. But, after seven decades, its aging infrastructure was ready for a new chapter. BTBB was brought in to reimagine the entire 30-acre site as a mixed-tenancy community for seniors and families. By reestablishing a traditional street grid, the isolated ""superblock"" was broken up and woven back into the surrounding neighborhood. The phased redevelopment included senior towers, garden apartments, and townhomes, with a future commercial phase planned along Little Richard Penniman Boulevard. The Tindall Heights neighborhood was created as Macon’s first public housing development for African American families in the 1940s. BTBB was able to study how the neighborhood could be reimagined. We were able to reestablish a more typical street grid, which allows the streets to blend back with the surrounding neighborhood.

2009 Vineville is a 106-unit senior living community that proves urban development and historic preservation can go hand in hand. It was completed on-schedule as part of a Macon HOPE VI grant—one of the few in the country to meet that mark.
Four new apartment buildings were designed to take their architectural cues from the renovated Community Building, an 1830s historic structure that once served as a country home and later as medical offices. Together, the buildings address the street in keeping with the character of the Vineville Historic District, with parking tucked interior to the site. The restored Community Building now serves residents with gathering spaces, a computer center, fitness center, and on-site management offices.

Revitalizing a neighborhood takes more than new construction. It takes thoughtful design that fits in from day one.
Built on the seven-acre site of a former 1940s public housing development, Tattnall Place is a 97-unit mixed-income community in the heart of Macon's Intown Historic District. BTBB designed the new buildings to mirror the character of the surrounding neighborhood, from large porches and on-street parking to structures that look and feel like the historic homes nearby. Featured buildings are divided into two, three, or four apartments. The development offers a mix of fully subsidized, tax credit, and market-rate units and has helped spark broader public and private reinvestment in the area.
We're proud that Tattnall Place didn't just add housing; it helped bring a neighborhood back to life. Thank you, Macon Housing Authority, for partnering with BTBB.

When demolition threatened a beloved 1920s school in Macon's Vineville Historic District, the community pushed back. The result is a creative preservation success story.
Rather than tear down the original Joseph Clisby Elementary School, BTBB worked within a compromise that preserved the historic front and side façade while constructing an entirely new three-story classroom building behind it. A second two-story wing houses a media center, cafeteria, kitchen, and auditorium. To passersby, the street view looks just as it always has. However, behind that familiar face is a fully modern learning environment.
