Another win for doing it right the first time.
This 2001 Volvo came to us after being purchased at an auction down south. Someone had already βmade keysβ for itβ¦ but the new key never started the vehicle.
Making keys for these requires either the dealer tool (which we have) or EEPROM work. Most shops go the EEPROM route. Since a key had already been attempted, we did the same so we could inspect the immobilizer module and check the previous workmanship.
What we found was great news:
β’ The board had never been touched
β’ Nothing was damaged
β’ The previous key had the wrong transponder chip for this vehicle
We carefully removed the conformal coating, pulled the 8-leg chip, processed the data, and programmed a correct new transponder on the bench.
Vehicle fired right up.
Donβt pay twice. Give us a call the first time.
