This Memorial Day weekend, we pause to honor the brave men and women who never made it home.
In our office stands a Missing Man Table, a powerful symbol of remembrance. Every detail carries meaning:
• A round table – symbolizes unending concern for the missing
• An empty chair and place setting, honoring those who are no longer with us.
• A white tablecloth for the purity of their service.
• A red rose for lives lost and the loved ones who mourn them.
• A yellow ribbon for hope and remembrance.
• A slice of lemon and a pinch of salt to reflect the bitterness of their absence and the tears shed.
• An inverted glass, because they cannot join us.
• A lit candle, shining in their memory.
• A Bible, symbolizing faith and the strength found in sacrifice.
• An American flag, standing in silent tribute to their service and country.
This tradition is deeply meaningful to our team at Sutton Landscaping. Over the past 15 years, we’ve had the honor of employing many veterans, including our current leader, Matt Wysor—a U.S. Army combat veteran who served in Afghanistan and has experienced the loss of fellow service member’s in the line of duty.
This table is for them.
We remember. We honor. We will not forget.
