The System Technician is responsible for the installation of audio, video, and various other types of electronic equipment. This includes the installation of all necessary cabling, trussing, and hardware in an efficient, effective, and safe manner. A Technician will also be expected to perform troubleshooting and repair of multimedia systems, both in-house and on-site.
The System Technician will be expected to demonstrate proficiency and professionalism on a variety of job sites. Effective communication with other technicians, engineers, contractors, and clients is frequently required.
Responsibilities
• Install electronic cables, connectors, and electronic equipment.
• Safely handle, operate, and maintain tools and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair a variety of systems and equipment.
• Comply with occupational safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory and expenses.
• Interact with Tarpley Media System’s clients professionally.
Requirements
• Experience in, or ability to demonstrate knowledge of, construction trade.
• Ability to safely lift heavy items of at least 75lbs.
• Ability to safely and comfortably work at heights greater than 100 ft.
• Available to work out of town for several days at a time.
• Ability to adhere to deadlines and schedules.
• Excellent communication skills.
Preferences
• Knowledge of Audio/Video systems, and the ability to troubleshoot such
operations is a definite plus.

The following are details of the System Technician’s job role organized according to current processes within the department.
Consulting:
• Contribute to the development of preliminary install schedules.
Product Ordering:
• Test products when received from the manufacturer.
Installations:
• Coordinate installation schedules with Ops Manager
• Verify appointments with client contact
• Stage products and materials needed to complete installs
• Conduct system diagram reviews with System Designers.
• Conduct on-site walkthroughs with Consultants.
• Document equipment using provided install logs
• Document expenses using expense reports
• Update Managers and consultants for install progress.
• Ensure completion of install by sufficiently cleaning work site and
reviewing functional requirements with System Designer and/or Consultant.
• Complete and submit comprehensive install and expense reports to the Ops
manager.
