Announcement: Tom is retiring!

Meet Seamus Dillon of Wabeke Lawn Service and Snowplowing. Wabeke is buying Scenic Expressions and we're in the process of transitioning ownership. We're confident that Seamus and Wabeke will take care of our customers and offer the same great service. Wabeke has a long history, a good team, and offers a wider variety of services.

The Scenic Expression phone numbers and emails now go to Seamus. Tom will be working part-time with Seamus, so he'll still be around.

We appreciate your support over the last 15 years. Our customers are the best. We'll miss you!

Of course we expect snow in west Michigan, but wow, what a weekend. We did not quite expect such a heavy, wet snow this early in the year. We are caught up (for now!) and the guys are starting to get some sleep. We have some fine tuning to do, which always happens with the first snow and we appreciate everyone's patience as we worked through all the details. Every year our phone rings a lot with the first snow: we're working on looking at driveways and putting quotes together for folks who are in an area where we already have a route.

We are switching up our mowing schedule due to the upcoming Labor Day weekend. If you notice this week or next that your lawn ends up being mowed on a day that differs from the usual day, that is why! The storm that just rolled in is going to mess things up a little bit too, but we'll get all the mowing done without a problem. Thanks for your understanding as the guys make plans to go camping over the holiday weekend!

Spring is sloooowly arriving. We were able to put all of the plows into summer storage and we have the mowing equipment ready to go. We have been able to work on a few jobs, but all of the rain we have been receiving has left many jobs too muddy to get to. The weather is slowly warming up and we are hopeful that we can soon work on our landscape jobs and get our mowing season up and running.

We are happy to report that we are seeing some signs of spring here at Scenic Expressions. One: we sent out the mowing contracts. We do have room on a couple of the routes, call Jon at 616-240-4464 for a quote. Two: we are receiving calls for landscape services. We are always happy to meet with home and business owners and talk about your landscape needs. Call Tom at 616-826-5896. Three: we are removing snowplow stakes and doing lawn repair. Looking forward to working with our great customers this summer!

We certainly have interesting weather in Michigan. We were just down to wearing spring gear and now we're back to boots and coats. There isn't enough snow to plow but we're out salting our parking lots and private drives. Wonder what tomorrow will bring?!

The guys headed out tonight and discovered that we only have an inch of snow. Therefore, for tonight, we're going to plow and then salt our retail and commercial lots and check our private drives. The snow is very light and fluffy and there really isn't very much of it so, as of this time, we aren't planning to plow driveways tonight.

This snow has been nasty. The guys have been out plowing. They are encountering ice under the snow and getting stuck (they're taking turns pulling each other out). We appreciate our wonderful customers who are always so encouraging! We'll be there just as soon as we can and now that we know how slippery out it is - please, everyone, be careful out there!

Looks like we're on the edge of a big storm. We've been out plowing and shoveling our commercial lots/sidewalks. We'll head out this evening and get all of the driveways. We'll see how long this storm lasts - looks like it stretches back to New Mexico. M21 is a two track and other roads are worse - a good day to drive very slowly and cautiously and stay home (if you can) once you're there!

Nice to have a quiet day. Everyone was able to get some sleep and a couple of needed parts were ordered. Hopefully the parts will come in tomorrow and we can get everything running smoothly again before we need to go out.

We are gearing up for a long night of plowing. We just picked up one truck that was being fixed (drive train) and we drove around and took a look at things. We found anywhere from 2 to 6 inches of snow and it is blowing and drifting a bit. We will be around tonight and get everything plowed. In the meantime, the roads aren't in very good shape - looks like a good night to stay home and maybe play a game or make a puzzle!

Our Michigan weather is always tricky to predict! The leaves came down late this year so the guys have been doing leaf pick-up instead of staking driveways. Tom and I went out quite a bit this week and got about 3/4 of the routes staked. We just got home from the grocery store and decided to put plows on the trucks! We'll head out tonight and check on everything. Because the ground is still warm we won't plow gravel drives right now because we would just tear up the gravel and create a huge mess. It's fine that not everything is staked, there isn't a lot of snow so we can certainly see where the edges of the drives are. We'll definitely lightly plow and then salt our commercial properties and we'll evaluate the driveways on a case-by-case basis. Sorry to be so up in the air about everything, but we've found that it's tricky to plow when the ground is still warm. Here's to hoping it'll melt off soon and we can still enjoy some nice weather before winter truly sets in.
