Dear Community of NWA,
My husband and I recently moved back down to NWA from Wisconsin, where we lived for ten years. We decided it was time for him to start his own electrical business, and he chose to start this company where he first became an electrician 20 years ago. After many years of hoping, dreaming, and praying, the stars finally aligned for him to do just that, and I couldn't be prouder. He has been an electrician for over 20 years, a lot of which he worked for NWA's local electrical company, Fleming Electric. He is so grateful for the knowledge and experience gained from them and various other companies after them.
Without further ado, I would like to introduce you to my husband, Colby Duncan, who now owns and created "3E Electrical." With many years of experience, he specializes in industrial electrical work and has vast experience in residential and commercial. Thus, "3E" was created for the three electrical branches: residential, commercial, and industrial. Given my husband's great experience and vast knowledge in all three branches, he wanted something to represent that.
My husband's primary goal is to raise the bar for all electricians in NWA. The first step is to address what lowered the bar in the first place. In our two short months here, he has recently heard and witnessed firsthand that honest tradespeople have become a dying breed here in NWA. This news was disheartening because he has always been proud to call himself an electrician from NWA. He always felt he had learned from the best of them during his early years as an apprentice electrician, being a native of Bentonville, AR.
Learning the electrical trade from his previous companies taught him to clean up after himself when the job was complete and to take pride in his work. Not only in a functional aspect but also to make it esthetically pleasing to the eye. From the service box to the light bulb or receptacle. He has recently noticed the need for more quality and pride taken to ensure customer safety and fellow electricians' safety.
My husband's goal is to raise the bar for all electricians again and bring back the quality and standard that once belonged to the tradespeople in NWA. He will strive to stop tradespeople from price gouging, eliminate those companies that provide the community with no-call, no-shows, and put a stop to the ridiculous quotes from trade companies that raise their prices because they don't want to either A: take on the job, or B: take advantage of good people. No one deserves that.
I have heard nothing but great things from Colby about the hospitality of the south, specifically here in NWA. It's one of the reasons I fell in love with my Southern husband. So, for me to hear these horror stories from Colby after his first week of starting his company here was shocking. Since then, he has witnessed other sad testimonies and has told me he had to change the minds of those who have shared these testimonies; he "has to be the difference."
My husband promises to bring integrity to the table, raise the bar for electricians here in NWA, and show those in the community real, quality craft, humility, and personable customer service in the electrical industry.
Please understand that we know everyone makes mistakes, which makes us all human. However, raising the bar for tradespeople will return the common courtesy that once was: owning up to those mistakes, striving to make it right, and promising to do better next time. These actions will hopefully again become the new normal in the electrical trade and other trades.
Integrity, compassion, and hard work sometimes go beyond just a job completion any day of the week. My husband may be a family man first, but after that, he is a darn good electrician and a hardworking man, no doubt. He knows that being a business owner, a father, and a husband comes with great responsibility and high standards. I hold a high standard for him as a family man here at the house, and he holds himself to a high standard as an electrician and a business owner.
He understands that things come up and people are human, but to him, not showing up and not calling is cowardly, downright rude, and disrespectful. I agree, and this got to him the most. I couldn't imagine hiring someone who didn't show up or even calling to do a job hired for. I know my husband will treat every job as if it's for one of his dearest friends or family members.
If you have ever had a bad experience like this within the electrical trade, I hope you allow my husband to change your mind that all electricians/tradespeople are not created equal. If you are looking for an honest man with a strong work ethic and a down-home vibe, this electrician is your guy. Just call or shoot him a message on his business page.
He probably wouldn't be happy if I shared his thoughts and feelings with the community. Or I threw in one of our family photos for everyone to see, but so many advertisements nowadays miss personality, personal touches, and downright reality. The picture symbolizes us closing our chapter this fall in Wisconsin and starting a new chapter here in Arkansas. So, it is perfect to show that 3E isn't just a company but a family.
Thank you all for looking. 3E and our family look forward to servicing NWA. Creating new, lasting personal and professional relationships. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
