🚨 IMPORTANT: Facts about roof claims…
Some insurance companies consider even an inquiry on a claim (just calling in and asking questions), as a negative and may impact your premiums- even if there is no payout. Don’t file claims unless you’re positive you have damage!
Ask your roofing contractor how long they have been in business, make sure they are not operating under someone else’s license and definitely ask for a certificate of insurance. The barrier of entry for many roofers is one truck, and one roofing crew, and t shirts - that’s it. 
Ask yourself, why don’t most contractors you hire to work in your home not drive 100+ thousand dollar pick up trucks?Does your plumber? Carpet cleaner? Pool cleaner? Likely not.
Many roofers do not care if they put a fraudulent claim in, it’s a game of numbers to them. And unfortunately, there is no legal consequence for them to advise you to do so. And watch how fast they disappear when your claim is denied.
Have your house inspected by someone who is not trying to sell you a roof, and see if filing a claim is in your best interest.
