Story time…. The streets are already crawling with roofers looking to profit from tonight’s hail. Please proceed with caution.

Last year we met an elderly couple in Milliken. Their home was impacted by the lemon sized hail last June.

They signed a contract with “a sweet girl” from one of those national roofing companies. About a week later they started to see some red flags and asked us to take a look at their claim.

This “sweet girl” had them sign a contract for a new roof which cost $27,000 MORE than what insurance had approved. Insurance was very fair with their claim and we could have replaced the roof and even upgraded it for the amount that insurance approved, but this company was charging an extra $27k for the same roof.

The contract also demanded that payment in full be made within 3 days of roof completion in order to avoid legal consequences.

Colorado has a law which gives you 3 days to cancel a contract. Unfortunately we were past that date and the company would not let them out of their contract.

We had our attorney review the contract and unfortunately it was rock solid. This retired army veteran and his wife were trapped in the contract.

This couple who were in their 80s ended up taking a loan in order to cover their exorbitant roof costs, all because they trusted the person who knocked on their door and did not do any research before signing a contract.

Please, please, please DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING with a contractor before you do your research.

Shady companies like this one are the whole reason that I started my own.

At Valcore Construction every decision we make is based on our core values which is exactly how we came up with our name. Whether you choose to work with us or one of the other great local companies, I beg of you please do not let anyone pressure you into signing something at the door before you’ve had a chance to do your research. You and your family deserve better than the scam that was served to our Milliken couple.

These homeowners absolutely understand the importance of curb appeal.

This is another real estate transaction where we got called out due to issues with the roof. However when I pulled up to the house I was instantly impressed with the condition of the exterior.

The sellers understood the importance of a fresh coat of paint in neutral colors to create that instant “Wow Factor”.

When potential buyers pull up to a property if they see damaged and deteriorated paint and siding instantly they wonder what else had been neglected.

Sometimes the damaged siding and paint alone is enough to make potential buyers walk.

A fresh coat of paint shows that the home was loved and cared for which leaves buyers wanting to see more of what the property has to offer.

Our friends Kayla and Tyler Jones are both.

Today we had the chance to inspect their property after last year’s hail storm, and we’re incredibly grateful they trusted Valcore Construction to take care of it.

Kayla and her husband Tyler are two of the hardest working, smartest, most genuinely fun people you’ll meet, and watching them build their businesses while still showing up so well for others is pretty inspiring.

Kayla is an incredible resource if you’re buying a property, refinancing, or looking into a HELOC for renovations. She truly takes care of her clients and helps make the financial side of homeownership feel a whole lot less overwhelming.

And if you need HVAC work, Tyler is your guy. Owning and operating an HVAC company is no joke, especially in Colorado, and the pride he takes in his work shows.

Good people who genuinely care about doing things the right way are becoming harder to find, and these two are the real deal.

…or maybe he was talking about planting trees. 🌳 Either way, the logic still works. 😂

The real estate market in Colorado is heating up, which means we’re getting the opportunity to inspect more properties and help make sure they’re ready for their new owners.

One thing many people don’t realize is that hail damage goes far beyond the roof. We regularly find damage to gutters, window screens, garage doors, siding, fences, and more. Catching those issues early can save homeowners a lot of stress down the road.
