I’ve been quoting a lot of fall lawn work lately, and sometimes the numbers surprise me as much as they surprise the customer. 😂
Every now and then, I hesitate before sending a quote because I know these jobs can feel expensive. Then I think about what it takes to do the work: it costs me $200 to fill up my truck today, and a 40-pound bag of grass seed is nearly $70. That got me wondering what the equipment adds up to.
Here’s a picture of the equipment I used for a recent dethatching, aeration, and overseeding job. AI added the prices and gave the picture an animated look, but the equipment itself is real—and it’s what I own and use. The total comes to just under $20,000, not including the truck and trailer needed to get everything to the job.
There are never any hard feelings if you decide to pass on a quote. I understand that every budget is different.
