Replacing a compromised septic system with a Norweco Singulair wastewater treatment system is a common alternative for existing houses, particularly on smaller lots or challenging sites. As an aerobic system, it treats wastewater to a higher quality than a conventional septic tank, reducing the size or even eliminating the need for a traditional leach field.

Norweco ATUs are aerobic systems that use oxygen to more efficiently break down wastewater compared to traditional anaerobic septic tanks. This process produces a much cleaner, safer effluent (treated wastewater).

Instead of relying on the slow, passive process of a conventional septic tank, the Singulair uses an active aerobic process that includes six steps in a single concrete or polyethylene tank.

1.Pretreatment: Solids settle out in the first chamber.

2.Aeration: A quiet, fractional-horsepower aerator runs intermittently to pump oxygen into the wastewater. This encourages the growth of aerobic bacteria, which rapidly break down organic waste.

3.Clarification: The wastewater flows into a final chamber where any remaining solids settle to the bottom.

4.Filtration: A Bio-Kinetic device equalizes the flow and filters the effluent before it leaves the tank.

5.Disinfection (optional): The system can be configured to add chlorine tablets for disinfection.

6.Dispersal: The treated effluent is dispersed into the environment. Depending on the local regulations and soil conditions, this can be done via a small drainfield, mounds, or direct discharge.
