Went back to this weekend, and honestly, I needed it.

It's easy to get heads-down in your own projects, your own market, your own problems. These events pull you back up and remind you what's possible when you're surrounded by people who actually care... about their work, their clients, their craft.

I came back with new ideas, sharper systems, and a handful of new relationships I'll be leaning on for years.

One thing I keep coming back to: even when we're technically competitors, we make each other better. A higher standard across the board benefits everyone, especially the client.

That's why I keep showing up to these. That's why I'll keep going back.
If you're a builder who's been on the fence about investing in spaces like this, stop thinking about it. The ROI isn't just knowledge. It's the people in the room.

This is just me being goofy. Work doesnā€™t have to be all serious all the time.

You can care deeply about what you do, show up, do it right, and still be a little goofy along the way. And honestly, the days go better when you donā€™t take yourself too seriously the whole time.

Fun little project that Iā€™m involved in. Building this curved 3 foot radius wall ceiling transition, which will then have wallpaper wrapped up and over to the other wall, which will be adorned with mirrors. what does the week before going on vacation look like for you? Finishing a deck that has postponed because of rain days and tornado warning, addressing structural issues on a renovation that wasnā€™t planned so the sparkys can do there job while Iā€™m away. Removing a massive deck and hauling away(salvaging lumber for the playhouse) trouble shooting some very old electrical and working on multiple large proposals. And theyā€™re all separate projects and Iā€™m self performing all of it. Oh and install stair treads and punch out a bathroom. And itā€™s the hottest week this year.

The space beyond the brick pillars has never been accessible to my client. There was a sheet rock wall with spray foam insulation on the backside the entire time she has owned this house. This was never our intention to open up that area, but once we found uninvited Wood eating guests, we had to pivot, which has led us to this. When we remove that wall, what we found was a 4 foot high pile of loose soil that had become a haven for rats and termites. Because of accessibility all of that dirt came out in 5 gallon buckets through a basement window down to the street. Seven trailer loads of dirt came out of that basement by hand. We planned for future by putting in a sump pump basin and a water management system below grade and also replaced the sewer line that busted. We may never add a sump pump in the basin if we donā€™t ever see water, but we will be ready for it if the time comes. Not very many people can say they added 150+ square feet to their condition space with actually not adding any square feet to their house. I wanna thank for being someone who I can depend on at anytime (rare in this business) and for jumping in quickly and getting this done. Maybe a silent disco rave in here before we build it outā€¦
