🌿 NATIVE OF THE DAY: HAIRY BEARDTONGUE! 💜

Don’t let the name fool you! Hairy Beardtongue (Penstemon hirsutus) may sound like a character from a children’s book, but this native perennial is a garden superstar!

💜 Pretty in Purple: Delicate lavender-pink blooms brighten gardens in late spring and early summer.

🐝 Pollinator Paradise: Native bees LOVE this beauty, and hummingbirds may stop by, too!

☀️ Easy to Please: Loves sun to partial shade, well-drained soil, and tolerates dry conditions once established.

🌱 Small but Mighty: Growing just 1–2 feet tall, it’s perfect for borders and native gardens!

🌎 Why Go Native? Less fuss, more pollinators, and a healthier ecosystem. What’s not to love?

Stop by Hess’ and let’s grow something good together! 💚

🌿 THROWBACK THURSDAY… do people still do these? 😂

We’re throwing it back to one of our favorite little nursery visitors — the doves! 🕊️💕 Including our own little Lovey-Dovey, who clearly knows Hess’ is a pretty good place to hang out.

And honestly, that’s part of what we love about a nursery. It isn’t just about making a yard pretty — it’s about creating a little ecosystem right outside your door.

🌳 Trees and shrubs give birds shelter and safe places to land.
🌸 Flowering plants support bees, butterflies and other insects.
🐛 Those insects help feed the birds.
🕊️ And before you know it, your yard has become its own tiny neighborhood.

Plant something that doesn’t just look beautiful — plant something that gives wildlife a place to eat, rest, hide and call home. ❤️

Because apparently even Lovey-Dovey knows… good landscaping is for the birds. 😂🌿🕊️
