We've been working on gutting and remodeling this cabin. The house is built on 6x6 piers and one of them, in the middle of the floor, had sunk an inch and a half. Upon digging down along side the post we found it sitting partially off a "footer" that couldn't have contained anymore than half of an 80 # bag concrete. We jacked up the floor, dug a larger/deeper hole, poured a new footer (4 - 80 # bags of concrete), and replaced the post. Here's a time lapse of the floor rising to it's proper height. (Note: The floor is rising, the string is stationary.)

The floor joists were also under sized for the distance they were spanning. So, we added two new support beams to cut their span in half and take the bounce out of the floor.

We're very grateful for the opportunity to work on and oversee this home from beginning to end. With the assistance of our awesome subcontractors we were successful in turning Bill DeMaio's vision into Bob and Stephen's forever home.

Custom Cabinetry 100% manufactured, assembled, finished and installed by Mountaineer Stairworks. Everything on this project, except for corbels and sconces, was milled by us, including all trim, panel work, cabinetry and counter tops.
