The cheapest thing you can do for your HVAC system costs about $15 and takes four minutes. 🔧

Change the filter.

A clogged filter makes your system work harder for less air. That means higher bills, more wear on the blower motor, and — in the worst cases — a frozen coil or a cracked heat exchanger. We have replaced expensive parts that died for no reason except that nobody changed a $15 filter.

Here's the thing nobody tells you: the first genuinely cold night of the year is when every furnace in the North Valley gets switched on at once — and it's when we get the most no-heat calls of the entire season. Not because winter is hard on a furnace. Because that's the moment people discover it quit sometime last March.

A tune-up in September is a calm appointment on a day that suits you. A tune-up in December is an emergency.

Bathroom smells like a sewer? It's usually one of three things. 👃

1. **A dry P-trap.** That U-bend under the sink holds a little water, and that water is the only thing standing between you and the sewer. In a guest bath nobody uses, it evaporates. Run the tap for 30 seconds — problem solved, free.
2. **A blocked vent stack.** Your plumbing needs to breathe through the roof. Block it (bird nest, leaves) and the gas comes back at you instead.
3. **A cracked line or failed wax ring.** This one needs us.

Try #1 first. Seriously — it fixes it more often than you'd think, and it costs nothing.

If the smell comes back, call us. Sewer gas isn't just unpleasant; it shouldn't be in your house.
