Practicing Shou Sugi Ban for the first time and I’m obsessed 🤩🔥

Shou Sugi Ban/Yakisugi is an ancient Japanese technique that uses fire to naturally char and preserve wood, bringing out a depth, texture, and character you simply can’t create any other way.

Watching the grain transform under the flame is mesmerizing and addicting. Safe to say, this won’t be our last time experimenting with fire. 🔥

Part 2 of our custom walnut rolling tray 🍁

This time, we’re adding texture with the Dremel, something I’d never done before but quickly fell in love with. I also decided to make a matching scraper, with one side fully textured and a thumb grip carved into the other.

After many, many hand cramps and working through a week of 100°+ heat in the valley, the carving and texturing is officially done. I’m beyond obsessed with how it’s turning out.

So stoked to see this one finished 🪵

Part 2 of our massive inventory haul! Another carload we just couldn’t pass up! 🪵

So glad we went back for one last haul before it was all gone! Thank you again, Lance, for the incredible deals this weekend. Wishing you all the best on your next adventure! 🤎

Come shopping with us in Carlsbad 🌞🌴

We seriously lucked out with the timing of this trip and happened to be in town for Lance’s big clearout. We came home with a car full or incredible wood and lots of furniture plans… and this was only Saturday👀
