Construction has begun on our Altadena SB9 project. The project is designed as a multigenerational family property of four homes organized around a protected oak tree.

Our client Kelly Akashi, has been featured in The New York Times ahead of her debut in the 2026 Whitney Biennial. As we partner with Kelly on her architectural rebuild, we are inspired by her vision.

Kelly’s installation, Monument (Altadena), is a glass recreation of the 13 foot chimney that survived the fire which destroyed her home and studio. She creates what she calls a “vitrified ghost,” turning a site of destruction into a place of reflection.

The exhibit “Monument (Altadena)” is open at the Whitney Museum from March 8 through August 23, 2026. See link in bio for Kelly’s journey over the past year and we look forward to sharing more updates.

Today is the official opening of in West Hollywood! Uchi LA’s concept-driven design explores the intersection of Los Angeles and Japanese design sensibilities through collaboration with local designers and makers celebrating natural materials, finely crafted details and Southern California’s defining indoor-outdoor ethos.
