UPDATE FROM LA GUARDIA, VENEZUELA 🇻🇪

The search and rescue phase is coming to a close, and Venezuela is now entering the difficult work of recovery and rebuilding.

The SRP24 Urban Search & Rescue Teams have completed our mission and just demobilized, while our medical partners continue serving those still suffering at Ground Zero.

Today, thousands of families are sleeping in the streets, exposed to rain, darkness, contaminated conditions, rats, and disease-carrying mosquitoes. The most urgent need is providing emergency shelters equipped with solar lighting, clean water solutions, and sanitation facilities to restore dignity, safety, and hope.

As recovery begins, SRP also looks forward to supporting efforts to rebuild using modern performance-based seismic engineering and internationally recognized earthquake-resistant construction practices to help create stronger, more resilient communities.

🚨HERO: A Venezuelan mother kept her three children alive by breastfeeding them for 11 days while they were trapped beneath the rubble of the OPP building in La Guaira.

While our SRP24 Urban Search & Rescue Teams are currently deployed in Venezuela and would love nothing more than to be home celebrating with our families and friends, we are exactly where we believe we’re called to be, serving others in their greatest time of need.

This is what Americans have always done. When disaster strikes, we show up. We bring grit, compassion, determination, and healing. We stand shoulder to shoulder with communities in crisis, working tirelessly to save lives, comfort families, and help restore what has been lost.

America’s greatest export has never simply been our strength, it’s the generosity of our people, the willingness to serve, and the belief that every life has value. We are honored to represent those ideals alongside our international partners as we continue search, rescue, recovery, and humanitarian operations.

It was another long night for the SRP24 Urban Search & Rescue teams. We're back at a collapsed high-rise where the structure came down onto a supermarket below. Reports indicate that 13 people may still be trapped inside. Throughout the night, our crews worked alongside heavy equipment operators, carefully breaching multiple layers of reinforced concrete. Today, we're hoping to break through the final barrier and reach those still waiting to be found.

Today, we mourn the loss of three firefighters who died responding to the Knowles Fire in Colorado: Emily Barker, Nick Hutcherson, and Sydney Watson.
