More details coming later (I got super lucky) but it’s crazy to end up in a race report from roadracingworld.com! I always thought it was something for my heroes, it’s a little surreal to see my name up there.

I even made $675 out of the purse for the AHRMA Pro Challenge! I can finally tell my mom that the expenses and injuries over the last 20+ years were worth it, haha.

Special thanks to Kramer Motorcycles USA for making an amazing race bike and Joe Karvonen for his infinite patience with my dumb questions as I attempt to learn how to go faster. Bonus thank you to Ted Flynn, Frank Sindermann, and Dean Black for convincing me to enter the race - I originally was going to skip it because I thought that I would be a liability for the pros as it was my first day ever racing in rain…

Got to hear a Ducati Supermono on the move today thanks to Bob Robbins and !

Bob had (who raced the yellow/black CR&S Britten, hence the suit) come out from New Zealand with the hope that he’d be able to do some parade laps on the same Britten but the themes for this year at Barber are 40 years of the GSX-R and 100 years of Ducati so the bike of choice got switched to a Supermono.

Would have been amazing to see/hear a Britten lapping the track but this was definitely a solid “consolation prize.”

Hope you enjoy this rare auditory delight!

Move in day at Barber completed! VyVy Nguyen dropped me off at LAX at 3:30, caught the sunrise during a layover at LAS, and I knew I was in Birmingham when the airport greeted me with a BBQ vending machine…

Moto Corse Performance 𝐁𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐲 brought a Supermono out, someone brought a death machine of a RV, and I am a little nervous as I’ve had to buy rain slicks for the first time ever cause of a potential hurricane on Saturday. At least they look cool?

Group dinner at an Indian joint that Olly goes to with his MotoAmerica race team, then catching up at some work at the hotel…but not before a supply run at Buc-ee’s, of course!

Time to pray to the weather gods!

I hosted Steve Metz as part of a ~10 person group ride yesterday on ACH/AFH/Mt. Emma/etc out to Wrightwood yesterday and there were some weird vibes from the general riding public. Lots of people going way too fast for the conditions and there were apparently four accidents that required EMS - one was right where ACH starts so we were ordered to find a different route by the police and we backtracked to Big Tujunga.

We took it easy because we had to make sure we were safe to race AHRMA at Barber this week but it was a little surreal. I tried to film a video of everyone on the group ride going through a tunnel for some audio goodness but people were making dangerous passes - wait for the last clip for the craziest one, someone went into the wrong lane going into a blind corner!

I guess the only redeeming thing is that all the bikes going through the tunnel sounded great, so here’s a few clips of the madness. I wanted to run a sound comparison for you to vote on like the last video but this one got blown up by randos who were making dumb passes, sorry.

Bonus points to Mutlu Mike Sivrican for his Ducati Streetfighter and Matt Harris for his Honda Hawk which both sounded great!

VyVy Nguyen - this is why I smelled like two-stroke yesterday!

One of the highlights from yesterday’s Two Stroke Extravaganza show was what they call the Smoke Out - at noon, everyone fires their bikes up and it’s a treat for the eyes, ears, and nose...

John Pera steals the show at the beginning with his Moto Rumi that was one of the loudest bikes there, but hopefully you get to see the variety of the sights and sounds that were on display at this year’s show as I walk around. See you there next year!

We’ll have a YouTube video on Iconic Motorbikes coming soon with some interviews of owners and detailed looks at their bikes.

Been a little while since I’ve had a proper ride and due to travel commitments I might not be able to get to Wrightwood again until after the winter so had to make a quick visit this morning.

Found a post office that only accepts cash (I wouldn’t like living in the boonies), a giant pumpkin, and more reasons to both love and dislike my Buell Lightning.

Jens Krüper is kindly going to help (hopefully) address my issues with the front brake, and then it’ll be time for suspension and exhaust.

Thanks to everyone for their advice on this bike so far, it’s been more fun than I expected!

Rennie Scaysbrook - this song choice is for you.

Went to the 2 Stroke Extravaganza today and got to see Brad Peterson, who won Best of Show with his incredible YamahaMotorUSA TZ750.

He drove down from Washington for the show and I’m glad he did because this bike is awesome! I asked him to share a bit about the bike and he was kind enough to fire it up so you hear that glorious exhaust as well, check it out!

I filmed a whole bunch with Attacus for the Iconic YouTube channel and I’ve got a few more reels from today which will all go up on Iconic Motorbikes very soon. What a great event!

We’re headed to the Two-Stroke Extravaganza on Sunday...will you be there?! Here’s a video from the “smoke out” from the last time I went.

It’s now at Daniel Schoenewald’s place (RIP) in Camarillo and his collection will be viewable that day, which is another reason to go as it’s pretty incredible - scroll for a few pictures from a previous visit!

The show starts at 9am and they’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Yamaha RD500. I’m going to meet some friends at the Rock Store at 8:15am and then I’ll lead a fun route to the show that stays off the freeway. Leave a comment if you want to join so I have a head count!

Hope to see you there!

I love owning bikes. I don’t love working on them.

Anyone have a lead on Buell® Motorcycles tank lettering for a Lightning?

Also going to be racing the Kramer Motorcycles USA soon, hope to see a bunch of you at Barber!

Did a little research today for a future Iconic Motorbikes members event - a little “ride and shoot”!

I brought my little R***r 10/22, Nick brought…bigger stuff, and it was an amazing morning of riding and plinking, plus now I know how we can make an event out of it.

Random bonus - I met someone named Richard who was shooting some Italian reproductions of old muzzle-loaded guns, including 2 “1837” ri**es and a “1815” pistol. He showed me how they all worked and then let me fire the pistol, but he said I had to fire it “pirate style”. Check out the delay between the flint sparking and the actual fire, what a thrill!

In semi-related news, my new-to-me Buell needs an exhaust and better suspension…
