Can you redo a bathroom for $10,000 in Los Angeles? Yes and no, and the difference matters before you set a budget.

A cosmetic refresh (paint, vanity, fixtures, lighting, maybe resurfacing the tub) can land close to that number in some cases.

A full remodel with new tile, plumbing, shower, electrical, waterproofing, permits, and labor is a different project. In today's LA market, $10,000 usually isn't realistic for that.

What surprises homeowners most is what's behind the walls. Old plumbing, water damage, mold, outdated electrical. None of it shows up until demo starts, and all of it moves the number.

Is building an ADU a good investment in Los Angeles? For a lot of properties, yes. But it comes down to your goals and your lot.

Most people make the same mistake: they look at what it costs to build and stop there. They never look at the monthly income an ADU can bring in, or what it adds to the property when they sell.

If you're building for rental income, multi-generational living, or resale value, an ADU can be one of the best long-term investments you make.

But not every property is a fit. Lot size, access, utilities, parking, city requirements, they all matter. And the cheapest option isn't always the smarter one. A bad design or a low-quality build can hurt your value instead of adding to it.

Kitchen remodel cost in Orange County in 2026 is not what it was a few years ago.

I still get homeowners expecting a full kitchen for $25,000. In most cases that's just not realistic anymore.

A basic kitchen with the same layout and standard finishes usually starts around $40,000 to $60,000. Go custom on cabinets, appliances, a big island, stone counters, or start opening walls, and most projects land between $80,000 and $150,000 plus.

The costs that surprise people are the ones nobody plans for: electrical upgrades, plumbing changes, permits, water damage, structural work once the walls are open. That's why two kitchens that look the same online can have completely different price tags.
