Guy rolls in slow, tire looking a little low, asks me to just "check the pressure real quick" πŸŒ€ I crouch down and immediately go quiet.

Sidewall's got a proper tear in it, and someone's wrapped a whole chunk of bike inner tube around it, cinched down with like SIX zip ties πŸš²πŸ”© Like this was a surgical procedure out there on the side of the road.

I asked him when this happened and he said he hit something two weeks ago, didn't have a spare, found an old bike tube in his trunk, and "figured it'd hold till the weekend" 😭 It's been two weeks. He's been driving on it. Daily.

Told him a sidewall like that can blow with zero warning at highway speed, no bike tube saves you there πŸ™ But not gonna lie, the wrapping technique was actually impressive.

Would you have kept driving on this, or pulled over immediately and called for help? πŸ‘‡

Driving around with a bad oxygen sensor like it's no big deal πŸ±πŸ”§

πŸ”§ Kid β€” maybe 19, 20 β€” rolls in with his first car, some beat up old sedan he clearly loves way more than it deserves πŸ˜‚. Tells me "just an oil change, I take care of her myself, promise." I nod, pop the hood... and this man has been putting the WRONG oil in for who knows how long. Wrong viscosity completely 😩

I tell him gently, like hey no shame, easy mistake. He gets defensive fast. "My dad taught me, he's been doing cars for 30 years." I'm like… okay, respect, but the manual for THIS car says otherwise, I can show you πŸ“–. He wasn't tryna hear it πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ

I just did the correct oil change, wrote the right spec on a sticky note, stuck it right on the dash where he'd see it every time he got in πŸ“. Didn't argue further, didn't want to make him feel dumb in front of his own car lol.

Two months later he's back, big smile, goes "so... I called my dad, told him what you said. Dad got quiet then admitted he's literally always used the wrong one on his own truck too πŸ’€" We both just started cracking up in the shop πŸ˜‚

Moral of the story β€” even the 30-year guys get humbled sometimes πŸ˜…

Was I wrong for pushing it even after he brushed me off, or is that just doing my job right? πŸ€”

πŸ˜‚ β€œHe lost the oil cap… so apparently the kitchen had a spare. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ”§β€

πŸ₯Ά This happened to a guy during a freezing morning in Michigan…
His truck starts perfectly.
He drives about 10 minutes, parks at work, and shuts it off.
Eight hours later?
Nothing.
The engine cranks slowly like the battery is almost dead. πŸ”‹
But the battery is only a few months old.
Then after the truck warms up later that day… it starts normally again. 😳
What would you check first?
And why?
I know the winter mechanics are gonna have some theories. πŸ˜‚πŸ‘‡

He was driving down the highway when he suddenly felt the car start shaking.
Then came the noise.
He pulled over, looked at the wheel, and found pieces of tire scattered all over the road. 😳
The crazy part?
He said the car had been driving β€œcompletely normal” five minutes earlier.
So now the debate is:
Did the tire fail because of age, damage, heat, pressure, or something else?
What do you think actually happened here? And what warning sign would you have noticed BEFORE it blew apart? πŸ‘‡
