It’s interesting how a color palette can begin to influence the way you see the world. 🩵🤎

Lately, we’ve found ourselves noticing chocolate brown and dusty blue far beyond interiors. The combination feels just as natural in architecture, materials, fashion, and everyday objects as it does inside a home. There’s a richness to brown that feels grounded, while dusty blue brings a softness that keeps the palette balanced.

The strongest palettes rarely stay confined to one discipline. Once they become part of the design conversation, they have a way of showing up everywhere.

Some weeks are job sites and walkthroughs. Some are dinners with friends, time at home, and a little space to slow down. Usually it’s a mix of both. That balance is part of why people build the homes they do in the first place.

Los Angeles doesn’t really have one architectural style, it has a standard.

You see it in the places that have held their relevance. Not because they chase trends, but because they were built with clarity from the start.

• Sunset Tower Hotel: Proportion and restraint. Nothing trying too hard.
• The West Hollywood Edition: Light, openness, and a very controlled palette.
• Hotel Bel-Air: Privacy built into the architecture, not added later.
• The Surfrider Malibu: Indoor and outdoor living that actually feels natural.
• Santa Monica Proper Hotel: Texture doing the heavy lifting. Materials over decoration.
• The Hollywood Roosevelt: Proof that good bones don’t age out.
• 1 Hotel West Hollywood: Natural materials, scaled correctly.
• The Line Hotel: A strong point of view without over-refinement.
• The Beverly Hills Hotel: An identity that’s consistent from arrival to room.

Materials carry more weight in a room than most people realize.

Stone, wood, metal, tile, leather. The way they sit next to each other is what creates depth, and texture is what keeps a space from feeling flat.

It’s one of the things we pay attention to when a project starts coming together.
