Alloi Architecture + Construction An architect-led design-build company focused on spatial clarity and thoughtful details

Alloi Architecture + Construction is an independent design-build firm specializing in meticulously efficient and profoundly innovative solutions to contemporary residential and commercial environments. Servicing both local and national clients, Alloi blends the expertise of architects, builders and custom fabricators to provide logical solutions to space that enhance our clients' performance, prod

uct and lifestyle. With an advanced knowledge of the building process, encyclopedic familiarity with materials, and a detailed focus on the individual needs of each client, Alloi offers not only functional designs, but inspirational spatial paradigms which increase understanding and awareness of how the use of space effects lifestyle or a company's image in the marketplace. Each project is digitally modeled using building information modeling before any construction commences. We approach every design challenge as an opportunity to leave a better impact on the environment through the use of ecologically friendly building materials and solar analysis.

The primary suite wakes up to the full sweep of Los Angeles.
Glass on two corners. The pool directly below. The hills behind it. The city skyline stretching to the horizon beyond.

This is what the site offered. Our job was to make sure nothing blocked it. Window placement, room orientation, the position of every wall, all of it organized around preserving that view sequence from the moment you open your eyes.

Where thermal load is greatest, insulation depth must follow.

At our Zen Modern residence, the south-facing wall of the primary bedroom is framed with a double stud system. The added cavity depth increases continuous insulation and reduces thermal bridging at the most exposed face of the building envelope.

This is not advanced building science. It is applied logic: locate the greatest point of heat gain or loss, and respond with proportional resistance.
The outcome is a bedroom that maintains thermal equilibrium without constant mechanical conditioning. Lower energy consumption. Reduced temperature fluctuation. Uninterrupted rest.

High performance construction is not a product of complexity. It is a product of analysis: understanding the climate, reading the site, and designing the envelope to respond to both.

Targeted intervention. Measurable performance.

When Marcos was in Rome, he stood in the Pantheon and watched light pierce through the Oculus.

A single opening in a 2,000-year-old concrete dome. Sunlight moving across ancient walls. The experience of transcendence through architecture.

Simple materials. Profound form. A space that elevates you into a different realm of awareness.

Architecture can transform how you feel, where light, properly placed, changes everything.

Spaces that move you.

Nestled in an eclectic niche of Venice, California this home combines brutalist architecture and Japanese minimalism.

The transformation of the 1920s bungalow involved structural modifications, extensive remodeling, and expansion, including the addition of an attached primary suite and a poured-in-place concrete flexible office space.

One of our Palisades projects sat five minutes from where the fire started.

We evacuated at 11am. Watched the news like everyone else. Waited.

When we returned three weeks later, the house was still standing. A home 800 feet away had burned completely. We had smoke damage, cracked glass from the heat, ash covering surfaces. But the structure held.

We're now installing exterior fire suppression systems linked to the municipal water, the pool, and a new underground supplemental water cistern. Rooftop emitters. Parapet sprayers. Fire foam systems that coat the exterior when sensors detect nearby flames.

This is what building for resilience looks like now.

Great architecture transcends borders. Our team brings experience from Scandinavia's functional restraint, Germany's performance, Japan's spatial philosophy, and California's indoor-outdoor living tradition. This isn't eclecticism. It's synthesis.

What happens when you combine Scandinavian restraint with Japanese precision and California warmth?

Architecture that feels both timeless and distinctly of this place.

One of the questions we return to in every residential project: where does the inside stop and the outside begin?

In this View Park hillside home, the answer is embedded in the plan itself. A sculptural dragon tree anchors the entry, rooted in river stone at the base of the stair. The glass rail preserves sightlines from entry through to the pool and yard beyond.

Biophilic design at this level is not about adding plants to a finished interior. It is about planning for living systems from the start, treating them as architectural elements with the same weight as structure, material, and light.

The result is a home where the California landscape is a continuous presence, not a view you step outside to find.

We recently hosted our first AIA Small Firm Exchange gathering at AIA Los Angeles — and it was exactly the conversation small firms have been missing.

AIA SFx exists to advance the interests of architects in small firms: advocating for their value, providing resources, and ensuring small firm voices are heard at the national level.

The morning brought together architects running small practices for candid, substantive dialogue on business development, staffing, systems, work-life balance, and building a firm that reflects how you want to work and live.

As California's State Representative to AIA SFx, the intention was to introduce the Small Firm Exchange, its resources, and its purpose — and to create space for small firm owners to learn from one another. No presentations. Just real conversation.

There is more to come. If you run a small practice and want to be part of these conversations, follow along and stay connected.
