3 month post surgery
Doing pretty well overall. Still some swelling in the lower leg. This pic was the other day after taking off a pair of rather loose fitting socks. Ankle gets a bit puffy too. My Doc's appointment is in a couple weeks so ill bring this up with him.

I still do my daily PT and twice a week regular workout. I must say that my 'savior' in daily PT is the exercise bicycle. I do 300 revolutions before any other PT and it really helps. Note that my bike timer died, so I just do 300 revs. I csn tell what kind of a leg day its going to be by counting the number of revs I do before its comfortable. Usually its 50 revs before its loose. Today? More like 125 revs.

Have a great Sunday my knee buddies!

Yesterday was my one year knee anniversary. Celebrated with a tattoo :)
I am one of the few that had a very rare complication, my femoral nerve was damaged when anesthesia placed my adductor canal nerve block. This has been the longest, hardest year of my life. 9 months of PT (until my insurance benefit was up,) lost my job understandably, and still dealing with numerous deficits. I started seeing a therapist weekly a month after surgery. The toll this has taken on my mental health was just as difficult, if not more, then my physical health. I also celebrated a lot of little joys this past year. Got my first college degree at age 44, finished just a month post op. Took my first unassisted steps about 5 months post op. Picked up a book again after 20+ years of not reading for pleasure. You can guess what that book is ❤️ I wish nothing but strong, happy healing for this wonderful community. And if you’re in the small percentage like me, it can feel very isolating. Reach out, I am happy to support you in any way I can. Here’s to a more peaceful year two!

14 weeks out and knee is feeling so great. 51m rtkr. Did 8 weeks of therapy 3x week. Was at the gym 3 weeks post doing upper body and very light leg work. Back to work at a physically demanding job at 10 weeks. First week was tiring and my leg swelled some by the end of the day. I would ice and elev

8 days post op - not to bad but skin reaction and dizziness
Popping in for my crew that had knee replacement last week. It’s day eight for me and actually the knee is pretty darn good. I’m definitely better than 90 but not sure how to measure at this point and it is completely flat. I haven’t taken any opioids just taking Tylenol, journavx and Celebrex. I have my first PT session in two days so that will be interesting. This was a functional alignment with muscle sparing surgery and I don’t think they used a robot as I don’t have the entry point wounds that I had on my other knee that was robotic. Pretty impressed with the rom which seems to be due to much less swelling than I had with my last.

The one annoyance is that as has happened in the past, I did have a reaction to the surgical glue and so now I’ve got blistering all over the incision. It doesn’t actually itch yet at least but normally it does get really itchy. Anyone else have this? The surgeon made me take off the dressing a couple of days early so that they could look at it and make sure that the drainage that I was seeing on the bandage was just from this reaction and they think it was. Not gonna share a pic of my gnarly incision lol. Hopefully the rash goes away quickly.

Also dang I am so weak and dizzy all the time. Don’t know why, I’ve been pounding water trying to stay hydrated and liquid iv every morning. I wondering if the journavx is making me dizzy. Anyone have that happen?

3 1/2 months since Full Knee Replacement - Hiking
For those who read my previous posts, I tried hiking a little longer today with my Grandson. Went 3 1/2 miles total. As you may remember on my last hike, I had some lower leg swelling that the Doctors said was OK, its normal recovery for some people.

The difference today was that I tried a light, knee length compression sock with a light weight hiking sock over it for foot comfort. Not as much swelling as last time and my leg was comfortable all day.

FYI, the picture is from Lake Minnewaska State Park in the Hudson Valley Region of NY. Beautiful day today going from 37° to 73° later. Leaves just starting to turn, but that Fall feeling is here. I hope all of those recovering from this surgery get to this point and more ASAP! We all worked our butts off to get here!!

Today I joined the club
Pain is maybe 2/10 and I’m walking way better than I’d imagined. But I’ve learned from you veterans:

the next few days will be tough

don’t overdo it on the good days/hours

take pain meds on schedule, at least for now (even though I hate what oxycodone does to my brain)

Does this look infected?
1 month post op and one incision on LET site looks like this. There is some white stuff and it’s a bit red but not a lot of pain. Will ofc call the doctor tomorrow but looking to get some opinion before tomorrow morning from Reddit.

Swelling 1 month post op
28 days ago I got acl reconstruction and extensive meniscus damage repair, I’ve been pretty good about staying on top of my physio.. but maybe not so diligent when it comes to icing and elevating.

I’m cleared to Walk in 2 weeks and I’m hoping swelling will go down once I start weight bearing

My overall question is how does my swelling look for 28 days post operation? And does walking/weight bearing help with flushing out that swelling

Starting my recovery...
So my LTKR it isn't going to the original plan, spinal switched to general anesthesia, due to not being able to do the placement. In for the night as PT doesn't work after 3pm, and surgery even started until 2:50pm. My surgeon said I'd be questioning my life choices, and initially I was...

Pain was 8/10 when I awoke and took a couple hours to get down to 4/10. But definitely doing better now. Pain meds, and ice machine (minimal effect due to the passing of the compression bandages but some effect). I can bend the knee somewhat(maybe 35 degrees), rotate leg without too much pain, fit pumps but leg raise are excruciating. Looking forward to getting moving tomorrow.

Thank you to everyone for the insights and experiences shared. Looking forward to working through recovery!

Twice in less than 6 months!
Adding a side by side of my ride home view from my first ACLr on left knee, March 31st (quad autograft and complex lateral meniscus root repair, partial meniscus debridement ) and today on right knee (quad autograft and light cartilage cleanup of frayed edges).

Day 0 and Week 25 respectively.

This may very well be the most insane decision I’ve made, but I’ve made good progress from the first round and thanks to our s**t health care system in the US of A, figured it was best to not deal with a whole new deductible next year. 😅

If anyone is out there that had torn both ACLs simultaneously, please DM me, I would love to hear your story. Seems we are a rare bunch in the club.

Positive vibes to everyone going through it - we’ve got this. 💖
