Home Front Build We’re an award-winning architecture, design, and construction firm rooted in Los Angeles.

With in-house architects, interior designers, and artisans under one roof, We specialize in luxury home renovations, historic preservation, and modern upgrades. In our homes, we feel secure, we nurture our families, we entertain our friends. Every client’s expectation of home is different, so as designers, we must first listen - then design. This holds true whether a client has purchased a house or an undeveloped lot, whether we build new or remodel; we must first discover what draws a client to the project – the vision, the emotion, the expectation, the desire. Only then can we claim that we’ve established the foundations for a successful design process. All too often in the business of construction, design-build firms operate as paper-based contractors with no actual in-house tradespeople of their own, instead employing outside subcontractors. At Home Front Build, we are exceedingly proud of the loyal team of framers and finishers, masons and plasterers, cabinet makers, hardware specialists, and tile setters we’ve assembled over the years. In addition to these highly skilled craftspeople, we’ve rounded out our team with intuitive and experienced architects and interior designers. Having this ensemble of actual fabricators and creatives under one roof generates a fertile problem-solving synergy that gives Home Front Build substantial advantage over traditional home builders. Here is something that does not happen often. A house that surprises you from the inside. From the street Paraiso de Roca Antigua reads as a modest single story home. Walk in and the house opens below you into two stories of nine to twelve foot ceilings, an open plan and windows deliberately angled toward the hillside and the walnut trees beyond.

You go down the stairs and the walls guide your experience so that at the bottom you are not looking into a neighbor’s yard, you are looking out from a private view platform into the natural surroundings. Steve designed everything here. Not just the structure but the interiors, every color, every material, every texture chosen with the same eye and the same intention.

Rachel puts it best, living here you know you are not harming the natural world. And for some people that feeling is not a bonus. It is a value.

Meet Rachel and welcome to Paraiso de Roca Antigua. A 1918 Craftsman home in Mount Washington, East Los Angeles. A big lot with a steep back hill with just enough space for something new. And a family that has been living on this land since 2010 surrounded by the kind of surprisingly rural beauty that makes Mount Washington one of Los Angeles’ best kept secrets with endangered walnut trees covering the hills and all. Reclaimed mahogany. Every plank carrying a history before it found its place here. Curved, fitted and finished into a canopy that will outlast everything around it. Nothing wasted and everything intentional.



Those arched supports are not just structural they are the design. The curve of the canopy, the warmth of the wood and the open sky beyond it create a space that feels both sheltered and completely connected to Los Angeles.

Some of the most beautiful fabrics come at a cost that has nothing to do with money. Toxic materials used in manufacturing that end up inside the homes we live in every single day.

Greg names a few here and then does what he always does, introduces H**P as the answer. A fiber that takes a fraction of the water of conventional textiles, feels genuinely soft, looks stunning in any design style and brings none of the toxic materials that most people never think to ask about.

This is wellness by design at its most practical. Your fabric matters.

Right now this home is in framing.

Reusable wood is going in and the foundation is solid. Things will change as we move into finishes, furniture selections, materials, details being refined along the way but what you are seeing here is the concept. The soul of this home and that never changes. We are rebuilding Mendocino the way it always was and the way it always should be.

Here is Steve on the Mendocino floor layout walking each room and talking about something that does not get discussed enough in a rebuild. Why was this home designed this way in the first place. The Mid Century Modern style has a very specific philosophy behind it the flow between spaces, the connection to the outdoors, the way rooms relate to each other and to the site. Understanding that philosophy is what allows us to rebuild Goli’s home not just accurately but with the same intention it was originally built with. This is what respecting a home’s design DNA actually looks like.
