By mapping the gritty ancestral architecture of our Four Mothers—Leah, Rachel, Bilhah, and Zilpah—we explore the “Moral and Spiritual Mother Load” and the deep layers of invisibility and disenfranchised grief that still echo in our overwrought and underpaid community-care systems. What happens when we widen the aperture, shifting from a triggering day of “othering” to create new collective rituals that honor those who lead, feed, and steward this life for a more nourishing, and healthy post-war future. Check out my new post: it traces how the distillation of Jewish earth-based practices has severed communal relationships to land, body, and collective ritual. But counting the Omer as part of a collective is a solid time to re-orient. When was eradicated, we lost a living system of relationship – trees, the Sacred Grove, fertility, and presence. By weaving Kabbalistic cosmology of the tree of life with physiology, ecology and ritual, the Omer is reclaimed and reframed as a collective, restorative process that involves contraction to yield expansion.
