Doug’s first project out of school was the Statue of Liberty. They sent him inside to crawl through it and draw as-builts because nobody had ever documented that shape. The reason they needed him in there: the arm was tipping.

He also spent 35 years growing a firm from one person to thirty-two, and has a lot to say about what happens after you sell it.
