Introducing Atwater Village Courtyard, a project designed to create space, privacy, and flexibility for years to come.

The homeowners came to us with a clear goal: replace a deteriorating structure with a thoughtfully designed home that could generate rental income while preserving the backyard they loved. By positioning the new home at the rear of the property, both residences enjoy their own distinct outdoor spaces while maintaining privacy and a strong connection to the landscape.

Inside, vaulted ceilings, a kitchen skylight, and carefully placed clerestory windows fill the home with natural light. A subtle compression-and-release sequence through the hallway makes the main living spaces feel even more expansive, while the bathroom continues the theme with a skylight above the shower and a restrained, timeless material palette.

Every decision was developed alongside the homeowners—from the proportions of the rooms to the outdoor layout, storage, and finish selections. Materials were chosen to echo the existing home, creating a cohesive architectural language across the property.

Designed for flexibility, privacy, and longevity, it's a home that feels as though it has always belonged.

A Westchester project designed for creativity, flexibility, and everyday use.

For a creator and author, natural light was essential. Vaulted ceilings and strategically placed skylights fill the interior with light throughout the day, creating an environment equally suited for focused work, photography, hosting guests, or simply enjoying a quiet moment.

A carefully curated material palette brings warmth and character to the space, including custom white oak cabinetry, engineered white oak flooring, brass fixtures, custom tilework, and thoughtfully selected appliances. Every finish was chosen to complement the recently renovated main residence, creating a cohesive architectural language across the property.

Behind the clean lines and bright interiors, thoughtful engineering and careful site planning helped overcome complex structural and drainage challenges, ensuring the finished space is as durable as it is beautiful.

Another milestone for our Altadena fire rebuild, final inspection has passed, the punch list is complete, and the clients are officially moving in.

Over the next few weeks, the final landscaping elements will come together as the project reaches its final form. We also coordinated closely with SoCal Edison on the new underground electrical service, and power is now fully on site.

These rebuild projects have been some of the most meaningful work we’ve taken on at Otto. Helping families return home after loss, while rebuilding with greater resilience, care, and long-term durability, is a responsibility we don’t take lightly.

A major milestone for our Altadena fire rebuild, we’ve officially passed final inspection.

The project is now in its final stages, with only the porch base and landscaping remaining. To complete the home, we’ll be cladding the porch foundation in river rock stone, drawing inspiration from the traditional arroyo rock foundations found throughout the area.

It’s a detail rooted in local architectural history, helping the home feel connected to its neighborhood while moving forward with renewed resilience.

From permitting and WUI compliance to final finishes, every phase of this rebuild has been approached with care, coordination, and long-term durability in mind.

Introducing Spanish Revival, thoughtfully designed to balance timeless character with modern performance.

At 1,150 sq ft, the layout is centred around light, privacy, and connection, with vaulted ceilings, generous windows, and large sliding doors opening to a private courtyard, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor experience. Bedrooms are carefully positioned to maximise comfort and separation.

Beyond the layout, the design is intentionally flexible. From kitchen configurations and cabinetry to bathroom fixtures, finishes, and lighting, each element can be tailored to reflect how the home will be lived in.

Material selections are equally considered, from stucco cladding with fire-rated assemblies and clay tile roofing to aluminium-clad wood windows and engineered white oak flooring, balancing durability, efficiency, and long-term performance.

Built as an all-electric home with high-performance systems, fire safety features, and energy-efficient solutions, it’s designed to meet today’s needs while adapting to the future.
